yeah, sure its true. Its onrpg
I'am here since 2002 (before they refreshed the forum) and
it was always like that. The only good thing was there were
less kids and bots at 2002 xD

but hey..we still got one member who likes mmshite (or two)
Orange or smth like that (the guy with the monkey avatar) and Xblaze
posting still news from this shiteee xD

edit: my sig is from a swtor fight at the screenshot section. Some people said the game is
bad cause you cant swim and that the swimming feature is a point that should be in
any new game and THEN people start a fight...was rlly funny

I don't think anything can take it's place, WoW is not just a game, its an icon for mmorpg games. Even in 5 years time, ppl will still be like WoW this WoW that, etc.... ( i dislike wow for many reasons but facts are facts )

Seeing how Aion and other games failed to punch a hole in WoW, i dont think gw2/star wars/tera/blade&soul will change this.

./ignore WoW and play the game you like.

I think Rift has the potential to be what WoW is and more. The dynamic world events are an interesting hook. So give it a few years and Rift will more than likely have Ex-WoW players flocking to it.

Blade&Soul also looks as if it could take WoW's throne. Fast-paced combat with controls similar to twitch-style FPS games. Looks very good.
Nothing that is SIMILAR to WoW is going to conquer it. The old and tried gameplay (which quite frankly is never going to be better than WoW, it's just so damn smooth and perfected) is slowly going stale, and Rift is nothing exciting.
Give it a few years and it'll most likely be freemium, lol.

Also if B'n'S/Tera/Star Wars turns out as generic as they seem, they will hardly dent the population~ Guild Wars 2 is honestly the only "rival" I would bet my money on (though not much).

Oh and the guy who mentioned C9? Not really. A room-based game will never become as popular as an open-world one.

    p.s. bf3 > blops~

Blizzard is too mainstream. They have great marketing. Blizzard is like Apple. They make great products and will rarely release crappy games. I have a feeling that Titan will be a MMO set in space but it could not be Starcraft. They said its a new universe but they could say that to start speculation. They want this MMO to topple World of Warcraft.

you also have to remember that the MMO market is turning from subs to f2p model. will people go back to the sub model for a game? there are countless of MMOs that turned f2p that might shut down which might release some players. most players sub to only 1 game, if at all, and play occasionally on other games.

only 2 contenders that are pretty mainstream are coming up-
Guild Wars 2: will be popular because of the buy 2 play option.
Star Wars: might have the Star Wars fans but reports coming from beta players say that the game play isn't spectacular. They will just play it for single player and uninstall it.

All MMO's have lost subscription revenue. The media is just being the sensationalists they are and singling out WoW.

Yep, if your in beta, you will know that the game sucks and its very disappointing.

people think its this next big thing that will crush WOW, but it really will not, it will struggle just to keep alive.

I don't know where you're getting these magical 3+ or 5+ million pre-order numbers...but they simply do NOT exist.

EA purposefully limited the # of pre-orders available to prevent a clog in servers. The pre-order numbers are barely over 1 million. The thread you linked is roughly 2 months old, and is still not accurate.

Also, I'm not a troll, I just don't see the point in stating something then NOT providing a source. You do it all the time, then put it off when asked.

People have been saying that WoW has been dying for 7 years. It's not going to die even with Guild Wars 2 coming out. I'm excited for GW2 but will it be the WoW killer? Or will any game be a WoW killer? I doubt it.

In order for a company to "kill" the Blizzard juggernaut, they better bring about 7 years worth of content in their MMO to compete with WoW right when they release their game.

Personally im getting tired of the "wow clone" term. I mean everytime a mmo comes out someone trys to stamp that term on them. Even if it makes no sense and most of the time. It doesnt.

The old republic is nothing like wow. I dont see wow being plot focused with voice overs on every quest. With dialog. When I played wow. I would of loved to hear voice overs. Plus other game mechanics that make it different from wow. Of course theres the wow fanboys that will attack anything thats not wow. But I dont pay attention to them.

They are good for amusement though.

The 'minor' differences such as voice actors with everything, and dialog options still don't change the fact it is almost identical to WoW in nearly every other aspect.

actually it's quite the opposite I know lot's of people who didn't play any single blizzard game but they jumped into the bandwagon 6 years ago, it just because of the hype.

I dunno about NA server, but when I was in my old guilds (EU) most players are 25+, they came from various mmorpgs, like lineageII, everquest, ragnarok online, and by far the community was the most mature I've ever meet in a mmo, no kids, no trash talking idiot.

still i'm not sure why are you guys talking about best player this and that, geez it's only mmorpg, as if playing it takes any skills

sure some guilds moved but thats not the majority + the main people
who decided to play WoW were Blizzard fans and that is a fact.
Mostly wc players and then the rest of them.

THEN other people joined too but people who played ultima for example
wasnt that excited about WoW...and the EQ community is a bit different too.

give me pls a source so i can read smth about your EQ dream
Still laughing at what? It's a fact that several of the top EQ guilds moved to WoW at its launch, as well as top players from other guilds splintered off to play WoW.

The majority of WoW Vanilla players were previous MMO players.
I was there for the launch of WoW, from day one. I was there when some of the best EQ guilds in the US decided to call it quits and move to a new game. Go ask Alex Afrasiabi, I'm sure you can get in touch with him through Blizzards main site. He brought his guild from EQ to WoW. And he wasn't the only one.
