I logged on to see the population a while ago. It still going pretty strong for being a very generic pvp game.

I agree the gameplay is kind of crap. The graphics might look good on screenshots, and it is, but the game is not smooth at all, in terms of movement, skill animations and general feel. It is kind of reminiscent of some games like Rappelz, Lineage 2, Rohan and one other game I played a while ago, can't recall the name it had a mage character with some sword whip thing (someone help me out) (not the recent action mmo).
Having said that, alot of mmorpgs lure people with false hopes of and never deliver at all, case in point: Luvinia. I wasted time on Luvinia getting to lvl 40 and then found out that there is no real PvP except optional world PvP (no self-respecting PvPer takes optional-world-gankfest seriously). Then there are others with terrible PvP, Dragon nest: juggled to infinity and a single tiny dodge on cooldown, Eden Eternal: stupid arena time-tables and glitch abusers.
I wouldn't say Troy breaks the mold necessarily, the wait times for PvP are still abyssmal.
Btw, Rift did perfect PvP. I have nothing but admiration for that game's Warfront system. Champions online also had awesome arena PvP upto a certain lvl.
