Default Anyone thinking of starting a Guild Wars 2 guild?

I noticed that on the GW2 forums many people are already forming guilds, so I was thinking of joining one.

But then I thought it would be cool to be able to play a different MMO with that group of people before GW2 is released, just to make the time go faster til the release and also to get used to being in a team with a certain group.

So I was wondering if anyone was starting a guild wars 2 guild but is also playing some other free mmo right now. It would be fun to get a bunch of people from here to form a guild in some other MMO while we wait for GW2 to launch and then just reform our already awesome guild over there

Just a thought, let me know what you all think

onRPG guilds don't last. It doesn't matter if the game is super holy crap omg the best thing in the world. That's the way of onRPG.

Indeed, I'll consider playing on the server/channel some of you guys are playing on but will only be partying/guilding with friends I personally know.

    I get it.
I guess that's why I wanted to do this. I currently don't actually know anyone who is planning on playing GW2 when it comes out.. That might change, but I was hoping to get to know some people.
I guess it's different when you know them in real life though

have you thought about making a guild or joining one on guildwars?. There are still a fairly good amount of active players on guildwars with some solid guilds that are trying to farm as much as they can and earn achievement points towards their account for guildwars 2. You're probably gonna find more dedicated players and dareisay mature people seeking to play guildwars 2 on guildwars than you will here on onrpg. just sayin. If you don't have guildwars, you can get the trilogy for a fairly cheap price nowadays, around 30$?.

meh, not sure if i will get the game, but my friend already got his guild setup with his own life-time ventrilo server and a whole new pc with a huge monitor setup just for the game >_> he is trying to convince me into purchasing the game.

well unlike p2p games, i don't have to worry about ever paying subscription after the initial purchase, (excluding expansions.)

I will probably do the same thing I did when I got GW. Purchase the game at the store, go home, take the key out, go back to the store, and inform then that its missing a CD key... repeat a few times at other chains of that store. After that, hand them out to the guys I do play MMO with.

It might on GW2 since the guild system allows you to constantly swap which guild you want to represent at any given time so people arn't forced into sticking with one guild. I could see myself sticking with an onRPG guild for my duration of playtime simply because I can choose to represent onRPG for a day and hang out with the cool cats. Sure we might not accomplish great things as a guild but I think it will last.

Well I am not sure I entirely understand why you guys are saying the guild wouldn't last.

Mainly because I actually never intended this to be an "onRpg guild".
It would just be a normal guild completely independent of OnRpg. OnRpg is simply the medium through which it would be formed.
Once that is done it would break away from here and be just like any other guild.
That was my intention at least.

Just looking for some people that might be interested in forming a small group to start a guild in some free rpg game. That game would sort of be like our practice to see how things go, what needs improvement etc, before moving over to GW2. Or maybe it will just fail miserably and that would also be good to know before GW2 comes out.

So far it looks to me that only 1 other person was willing. 1 or 2 other posts seemed like maybe's not really sure if that's the message or not.

So so far it looks like a no go.
But I'll check back at this thread a bit more, in the next few days, if it doesn't seem to improve then I guess I'll just wait until GW2 is released to find myself a guild

well god damn! i'll just do it once, then give it out to someone else who's really active. Played GW for 2 years before getting tired of roleplaying, just did pvp when I unlocked most skills I like lol.

well anyway, if someone here is gonna make an OnRPG guild I don't mind getting in, even if it'll only last for like a week or two.
