Allods all the way. Allods isn't cash shop heavy. The cash shop only allows you to progress slightly easier(which doesn't make that much of a difference). Yes you can buy crystal chips to create runes which will boost your attack and defense up to 30%(lvl 4 runes are default pretty much now).

But by the time you will even need them you'll have enough gold to buy crystal chips for gold and make all the lvl 4 runes and maybe even few lvl 5.

tl;dr - If you are a lazy **** then Allods will be "cash shop dependant" for you. However, if you are willing to put at least some small effort into gearing your hero then you won't need to spend a dime.

Well last time I played Europe it wasn't that bad. Yes it is slightly underpopulated but I don't consider that a problem. However, I would still go with US version because there is absolutely no difference in net lag/ping and US is more populated than EU.

One important thing about Runes. Runes WILL be required when you will reach end-game. Traditionally all raiding guilds require lvl 4 runes to join them and since lvl 4 runes don't cost that much Crystal Chips you should be able to get enough gold from the dailies.

But until early lvl 40s you don't need to think about them at all because you won't even need them.

And I'll be damned if anybody from this forum will even get to lvl 30.

Question about Allods: Are psi's still the punching bag of the devs?

Well you'll have to get used to that slow leveling. You can play around 2 hours a day(3-4 hours later on after you hit lvl 30) until you are out of fatigue and then you are done for the day. But if you do quests after the fatigue is depleted you will just **** yourself up.

But that's what guilds are for. I joined up a guild and sometimes when I still wanted to play but was out of fatigue we just did random stuff together. So I would say that a guild is a pretty essential thing too in this game.

Question about Allods: Are psi's still the punching bag of the devs?
Haven't played one but the ones I've fought seemed pretty strong, definitely not weak. But as a warden I still managed to kill em.

Kudos to you then. The slow progression in this game would make most of the people to quit before lvl 20. That's just how this forum rolls. And the last time I tried getting people from this forum to play this game most of them wouldn't even play it again after playing for 2 hours for the first time.

I played Allods for about 6hours, and have played a few charaters pretty much all to the same point.
Played util the slow leveling annoyed the living piss outta me and then left.
The game is still installed on my desktop and laptop though.

There wasnt much in it to keep its hooks in me, I loved the start up. that made me really want play it but after getting into the actual game world, it was disappointing :/

Iris did a really good job of pitching itself and showing what it had to offer and was a good carry to level 24~27 where the game starts to show you how your classes work and make you think about your 2nd class.

Hmmm.....think I'll give Allods another shot. Honestly if only for the air ships, ever since Skies of Arcadia in the dreamcast days I've had a craving for air ships.

It's not the slow lvling that drove me away but at 13-14 with summoner I easily could've taken 2 or if I'm lucky 3 mobs at a time , and from ~15 (when you start to do quest near the skeletons) they spawn ~2 mobs that are higher than you sometimes by 1 or by 2 lvls they owned me every single time lol even with blessing active which is what I don't get , tried 2 times both times ragequit there

its been a long time since i played allods.
im thinking of getting back into it, but i'd like to know something.

around the time i was playing tanking and healing were broken, tanks couldnt hold any aggro at all and mobs were really wierd with who they would target, and for healing, player health never displayed properly and you were forced to just spam heal due to the fact of not knowing what party members true health was. so have they fixed these issues?

those were really the only things that turned me off the game. besides that its a very well made game.

People can get to max lvl in a week or less.
With all this events and lucky moments lvling is little too fast now imo.
And max lvl is not 60 its 47 or 46 since 47 is locked untill u do some quest which involves doing astral , istances to get some gems and also gear in the process.
And story has better quality then Iris story.
And not to mention how combat is laggy and sloppy in iris, where even a melee class needs to stand in place to be able to use a skill.

This guy isn't lying, He got me back into playing Allods for awhile and I stopped around level 25 since I didn't have much time on my hands to play much anymore. The exp gain isn't that bad once you get a group of friends going or you go into the lore.

    Ok my last post.
Iris is ok game, graphics is nice and cute, lots of classes .
But after playing games like WoW, Allods or even some other games, combat in Iris is kinda outdated to me at least. Where basically u click on a skill and ur char runs to target and use a skill which is really annoying after playing wow and allods for a very long time where combat is more dynamic especialy in PvP where u constalty need to move or u are dead .

It all depends on what ppl like, both games are very different.

    RIP Xfire

I will at admit after playing WoW or RIFT or even prius the combat state of Iris and by that i mean its simplicity is at first lack luster, but after playing it and seeing just how the combat is, its makes sense as to why the games combat is the way it is.
Its combat is very fluid and smooth, never letting you miss a beat. The "fights" only last a few seconds between players or PvE, and chaining the kills together as fast as you can is more important than actuall killing speed.

EDIT: Im in game in allods right now playing with a winged fairy thing with a mace.
why the **** every time i rightclick it deselects my target? Thats really pissing me off.
EDIT:2 The game glicthed out and wouldnt let me use any skills or type. WTF?

EDIT:3 Allods's controlls are clunky as hell, It wont let press W and and rotate my character, the skills are unpredicable and the fights are obnixious.
sometimes my character kills the mob in like 5 seconds some times it takes 30 seconds, Everytime i right click it delecsts my target, sometimes the game errors and my cahracter wont cast skills.
    what in gods name?
    This is "QUALITY"
You guys are absolutely stark raving mad.

I am sorry but you are the living definition of "idiot" or "hater" or maybe even both.

If you can't even be bothered to figure out the controls, read the manual then I got nothing else to say.

10minutes in game and ive already encountered glitches and game design errors.

Seriously why the hell cant I pan the camera and keep my target?
    Right click=deleselect target.
    WADS?
    W+A or D=forward strafe
    W+Q or E=Forward strafe
    ^ wtf?
In WoW, you press W+A or D youre character pivots(rotates) in almost every MMORPG it does this.

I was pressing attack skills and my character would freeze mid motion and not attack.

these are glithes and mistakes i encountered playing for not even 15 minutes.

CAre to elaborate as to what you are talking/complaining about here?
Every MMORPG that ive played when it comes to PVE combat its "stand there and tank and spank"
Sit there roll face agaisnt keys, go to next mob, repeat.
Unless your a Kiter, then its run away like an idiot press buttons for instants, keep running.
