Men aren't in trouble. I mean, yes, they are in trouble, but no more than any other human being living today.

Times are just changing. The whole concept of male machoism and superiority is eroding from the outside in, and people aren't coping with it. Still, sexism is alive and well, mostly from people who insist that there are differences between genders beyond simple gender differentiation.

I can write a whole, whole lot more about this topic if any of you guys want.

You know. From the perspective of professional gaming, it sounds like women are far behind. Also, I wouldn't take articles from CNN too seriously. Especially not the opinion section. Look at how bad the comments are regarding the article. I have to be in church to be man now? Come on, really?

You think of it in a negative way. If you look at it in a positive way, it means we can stay home, and do whatever we want. If we get a wife, with a great job and awesome pay, you won't even need to clean!! Just cook and look pretty

Degrees mean nothing, if they are the wrong degrees and woman in a large majority get those.

So yea, this article is a giant joke.

This is not an opinion piece, where the author talks about how in his opinion factual developments affect us.
The development that this article theories about is entirely made up.

It's actually insulting. Insulting to the point where it disgraces the author.
If I wanted to do a runner up piece for the dumbest article on modern males; I do not know, if I could have done any better.

Considering more women than men both enter medical school and graduate medical in the United States, are you sure that's exactly an accurate generalization to make about how women are getting the wrong degrees? Sure, they are also the vast minority in getting engineering degrees, but engineers are far, far more likely to go unemployed than doctors, anyway.

Perhaps. Women are still paid less than men for the exact same amount of experience and when they have the exact same job title and duties. It's kind of disgusting, really.

The whole 40% jump in income earned for women mentioned in the article has more to do with less discrimination than it does with better degrees and jobs.

    Well
    A) that's a statistics question; Do you count years in maternity leave or not. The trend in the numbers won't revert, but the actual figures jump quite a lot.
negotiating your salary is up to the individual. I come from a woman heavy family. I do tell them that and strongly advise them to properly negotiate. I tell them that their future might depend on it and their entire happiness. Even then they don't. However, that I only have to tell them is already a giant joke to me.

There have been lawsuits in the U.S. between women and companies who were paying them considerably less than their male co-workers who had the exact same job. It used to be that women lost these lawsuits, even though discrimination was clear.

I don't mean that as a strawmen. I don't think that discounts what you bring up, but I think it illustrates my point that sexism for that kind of stuff has a long history and tradition in the U.S. It's not going to change overnight, and it's not going to change for an individual who decides she wants to negotiate for a normal, equal wage against a patriarchal establishment.

Oh no, ronin, now you're being sexist! I mean, men aren't allowed to hold women to personal standards. If you expect women to be a certain way, you're limiting their freedom, infringing on their rights as independent, freethinking inviduals, and reinforcing the patriarchy that has enslaved women since the dawn of time DERP DERP DERP.

On the other hand, if you don't have the face of a greek statue, nicely trimmed beard, yet a hearless muscular body, a good work situation, nice yet fierce personality, sharp wit and sharper sense of humour, and a well planned/structured yet adventurous and spontaneous lifestyle - then you are not trying hard enough, and aren't worth the time to date, even if the girl in question is over-weight, uneducated, works at McDonalds, and think Sex and The City is quality entertainment.

But seriously though, the entire "problem" this article is trying to demonstrate can be summed up like this:

WHY MEN NO BE LIKE EDWARD FROM TWILIGHT?!?!
    The Common Sense United Front
ZAZAZAZAAAA, DADADADAAAA DAAAA, SHWAMSHWAMSHWAMMMM DUUUU DIIIII DAAAAAAAAAA

Get off the video games five hours a day, get yourself together, get a challenging job and get married." It's time for men to man up.
Now this is what annoys me, or at least used to, when i was younger i used to do nothing but try to prove my self and be, i guess better then everyone. as ive gotten older i have learned that i have nothing to prove to anyone other then my self, and for me personally life is about enjoyment and i just so happen to enjoy playing video games, but then again i have a fairly challenging job and have been in a relationship for 7 years now (not married) and don't have kids so i guess this quote doesn't really apply to me, or article for that matter.

also i didnt even really bother to read it, just skimmed through it since tbh i dont really care.

Ha! Men are not in trouble. Just because so lazy and stupid jackass can't get his *** up from the couch and work for his money doesn't mean we all are like that.

I find it to be something similar with all the "One gamer represents all gamers" news.

It all boils down to women wanting men/women equality.
But equality means differently for both.
Women - Equality = doing everything men can do + men do things FOR them.
Men - Equality = women literally doing everything men can do. Being topless/sitting with legs wide open.

In terms of employment, there are jobs where women still cant do. Jobs that require both thinking and physical work, ie. some engineering jobs.
There are also jobs where men are not preferred. I've seen many ads on recruitment for FEMALES only, ads for the service sector.

The article is clearly extremely bias. The world cannot be examined, quantified in a few weeks or months. Leaving the sample size examined for the article to be, small, perhaps just 1 country.

If a woman, no matter how attractive she is, is an utter ***** - I find her ugly.

Not sure if that applies to any other people, but meh.

    And what's wrong with that?

This whole idea of "gender roles" in society is, quite frankly, utterly ******ed and just causes more problems then it's worth.

    The world is less sexist..

'MEN ARE IN TROUBLE BRO, WE NEED TO STEP UP'.

... ? This article is clearly bias and doesent show any form of 'real evidence' or the survey thus stats are taken from.

I agree with the concept of 'man up', but not from that point of view.

BTW: if females want equality, they better step up and start taking part in 50% of every job on earth. Even the ones women dont like.. You know, plumbing, waste disposal, you know, that kind of stuff.

Well, I assume you can earn a fair bit from plumbing, but the thing about types of jobs where you need an apprenticeship, is that most of the people in those jobs are either men from the working class, or men who have recently immigrated. They don't take these jobs because they love plumbing. They take them because they can't afford a university education, and/or because their family or someone close to their family has been involved in that particular trade for a long time.

Besides, my uncles have told me about their experiences helping my grandfather (who was a bricklayer), and about how sexist people in these trades can be. They don't want women to become part of these trades, so it's only natural that, (combined with the fact that such jobs are often just unpleasant in nature to begin with) for the most part, women don't.

and I don't think they should have to be. this argument is silly imo. IF WOMEN WANT TO BE EQUAL THEY SHOULD START TAKING CRAP JOBS. AND ALSO THEY SHOULD BECOME ALCOHOLICS AND START BEATING THEIR HUSBANDS.

    You dont understand the point.

If you want to be equal, you have to be 100% equal. As in, do the same things-and contribute the same to society.

If it was just, 'society' we wouldnt have to worry. But when women cry, and make it a male VS female thing, you have to make it a seperation of society.

You do half the work, Ill do the other half.
