Eggs are a cheap source of protein. Around $5 for 5 dozen eggs, you can fry or boil them for breakfast and drop them in ramen noodles for lunch and supper.

Can't really eat any cheaper than that.

I suppose you could accumulate a giant cabinet of delicious condiments. My current favourite is this Japanese roasted sesame seed sauce. It's amazing on plain rice.

Instant noodles are really cheap. Cost more than a dollar but there are like 5 servings of noodles in each packet.
