Its a really simple way to get control of your mind. I've been doing it for quite some time now and I find myself just doing it subconsciously now when I get stressed or upset or angry.
It takes practice, but its well worth the effort. Sit back, chill the **** out, on the inhale say in your mind "annnnnnnnnnnnnnd" on exhale "oneeeeeeeeee", inhale "annnnnnnnnnnnd" exhale "twooooooooooooo" up to ten, repeat. Generally it only takes 20-30 for me to regain complete control of my mind.
At first, you're going to get distracted. Just work as hard as you can on only concentrating on your breathing. Its OK to get distracted - I mean, its what you're learning NOT to do. Also, for some reason, you're going to notice a lot of itchiness that wasn't there before. Just itch whatever part of your body is asking for attention, trying to ignore it is more distracting than just addressing it. If you go over 10, don't think about it too much, just return to 1 on the next breath.
Its very simple and relaxing. I feel like it gives me much much much more control over every situation. You don't have to be in a relaxed environment to do it either, but its best to learn that way.
Get headphones and listen to some music it works for me all the time.
Use Pandora because that way you can still like multi-task if you have to. I got a light case of A.D.D. so I know how it is.

It helps me to listen to music. You might try to find a certain type of music that helps you concentrate rather than distract you. Most music distracts me, but ambient, classical, and instrumental hip hop really help me when doing homework or whatever.
And yeah. Don't take any chemicals to help you concentrate.

Unless you have been prescribed this stuff by a doctor for a diagnosed condition, you should not be taking to what amounts to legal speed. They are not drugs you want to take just because you can't get off your butt to study.
Thanks for all your input!! I will definitely try them out, except the drugs... but thanks anyways
Reputation: 94I find coffee helps me to concentrate more often than not - it's a stimulant, there are barely any health problems associated with it (Although if you pour sugar and milk into it you're probably going to run into some problems with you, your waistline and probably diabetes) and it always gives me a positive outlook on the work I have ahead as it releases endorphins. You do develop a physical addiction to the stuff, but really there's no reason to stop drinking it that we know of.
Though Oister's method of meditation is probably healthier, do that.

He certainly wouldn't be the only one.
Not that I'm condoning it. Just saying, those things are more in demand than a $1 ******* come the right time of year. It seems to work for lotsa people. I actually have ADHD so they just kinda turn me into a zombie while everyone else is supercharged and becomes a studying machine, it makes me on the level most people already are. Ugh, I stopped my script for those things when I was like 14. Noooo thanks.
