    Default High Ram Usage?

    Hi I just installed Windows 7 64bit.

I have 4gigs of ram and it sits idle at 1.7gigs ram usage. Is this normal? If not is there anyway to free up some ram?

    Thanks in advance

It's pretty normal for Win7 to have a rather high RAM usage. I'm at 2.36gb with a lot of apps open. I still have enough RAM left for most games to operate without problems.

I should update this but all my effort went into writing this lousy excuse.

I suppose it depends on what you are running. I am running at 0.99gb right now with a few tabs in chrome and a few documents in Word open. It seems a little high, but I also have no unnecessary processes running right now. I would look into what you have running in your taskbar, what you have running on startup (run --> msconfig) and do a rundown of your currently running processes.
