Default Last MMO You Played Long-Term?

So I always see people on MMO related forums discussing the game they are waiting for, how it will be the greatest thing ever, and so on. But then the game comes out, they are quickly disappointed, and move on to the next game.

So since OnRPG forums are notorious for offering a good sample of this type of MMO hopping group, tell me, what was the last MMO you played for 6+ months, and why did you leave it?

Mine was Forsaken World, due to the closed beta lasting 6+ months . Left to play League of Legends as a time killer until the live action games started releasing (Dragon Nest, Dungeon Defenders, soon to be TERA).

Every game is a time killer until D3 or GW2 launch :>
    DD being particulary good one.

Most recent one is Heroes Of Newerth. A since it went into early CBT and was forced to stop playing because it is killing my old computer. Stuck with LoL.

Then comes Allods for around 3 months. Same reason as HoN. I really miss those 2 games

Going even more back comes Bounty Bay Online. Played it for a solid year too. Though the patch with these "jobs" and overall gameplay overhaul completely ruined it for me. All the top guilds(incl. ours) quit the game. Some of them still hung around for a little while but then quit too. I would say that a "generation change" happened there. I dumped over 200 Euros in that game and I wouldn't change anything. Worth every cent.

Even further back comes Runescape. Oh boy. 5 years definitely, hard to remember exactly how long I stuck with it. Similarly like with BBO the updates for the game really ruined it for me.
Then there is Maplestory left. It kinda goes in the same timeline as Runescape though I started playing Maplestory a little later but those 2 were my top games. Played through CBT, OBT when Wizet actually owned the game. When Nexon took over I quit after a year or something, maybe it was a little later but it still lasted long for me.

I am really picky in games and it is near impossible for me to find a game which I can stick with for a long period of time.

    I categorize games like this:
1)The ones I play barely an hour and delete it because it is plain boring
2)The ones which are a little more rare and can actually play for a whole day
3)The ones I play around a week and quit.
4)Lastly the extremely rare games which stick to me forever until the company decides to screw it over or my life just decides to screw with me.

So currently I am kinda hopping through games just to kill time and hoping that one day I can own a better computer to run those games again.

The only MMO's I've played for 6+ months were Shadowbane and Final Fantasy XI. Nothing else has ever kept me entertained for that long, wish I could find that one jewel to keep my attention.

Maplestory since the CB, but I've been on and off it. Same with Trickster and SEAL.

WoW and Warhammer, tho I've been playing UWO for quite a while again. I also dabled in Tales of Pirates and Battle of Immortals for several months.

Out of the ones mentioned, WoW is the only game hooking me for over a year tho.

In the past, I played DaoC and UO for that amount of time too.

MU Online: Official server was horrible...and private servers got swarmed by BR and PL-guys that didnt even talk english...
Ragnarok: again, official was horrible, private servers were fine until TOO MUCH new stuff got added x_X
Maplestory: played it when it was still the old EXP-System and thanks to that got kinda pissed after grinding for hours just to get 10% "
also quit because they added so much stuff that i got lost somewhere...lol
GW: playing sometimes...bought Proph when it was just "Guild Wars" =O
Rappelz: lvled to 151, got all interesting pets (I'm a melee-fan...so no WD for me) -> waiting for 7.3 but not really expecting something awesome x_X

newer games are just shiny without any real challenge...so i hope GW2 will entertain me for a while :S

I've been playing LoL.... but I guess that doesn't count.
Last one I played long term was WoW... and I quit a year or two ago. Just can't find a game I like. Even WoW isn't the same as it used to be.

Guild Wars. Stopped playing because I didn't want to pay for the Expansion packs. Got left behind and just gave up on the game. Then when I think about going back I figure its too late.

Other than that probably Dungeon Fighter Online. But I didn't ever play 6 months straight but has been more than that total. Play it on and off since 05 or 06. I think I may finally be done with it. I have said that a couple other times though.

Interesting.. thanks for those that gave reasons why they quit (I know I tend to be TL;DR).

Ironic that the breaking point for a lot of people isn't a lack of content, but updates that add content that breaks the parts of the game people enjoy. Oh MMOs.. when will you do real market research?

Anyway tell me more! MePath and I are going to go put the final touches on rolling out OnRPG's major design overhaul so look forward to a shiny homepage in the morning!

SWG. I played non-stop for a good 2-3 years, and then off and on for another 3 or so years.

I started playing off-and-on because of the NGE and the massive effect it had on the population. A lot of people that made the game enjoyable for me started playing less and less. I wish they would have kept the game open and weren't closing it down, as they've added a couple of things that were in development due to the game closing down (Atmospheric flight and capitol ships... two things the playerbase have been begging for since the Jump To Lightspeed space part of the game was released).

I've MMOed for over a decade, but mostly F2P, and if P2P then most likely Pserver..

Here are some of the games I've played the most:

    Aion - 2.5 Years
    Vindictus - 1.5 Years
    Dragon Nest - 1.5 Years
Jade Dynasty (Very Off and On) - 3 Years?

I stopped playing Aion because the content got worse and worse. As time went on they kept on dishing out crappy content to try and keep players interested, but it didn't work.. It's boring as hell now.

I stopped playing Vindictus because the game got so so repetitive and boring, and the game was a waste of time with no PVP future. It's a PVE game and always will be sadly.

I still play Dragon Nest and have always enjoyed the game; the same goes for Jade Dynasty, but with JD I play on Pservers now for the straight-to-pvp fun.

League of Legends. 4 hours per day for 7-8 months.

I left because Dragon Nest was coming-out.

Ragnarok. I played that for like 4 years. Then stopped, but when I played again after how many months, took me another 3 years. It's the only game where if I come back, I'd play it seriously lol.

Original MMO was Runescape until WoW Beta came out, played WoW hardcore through vanilla, semi-hardcore in bc, played hardcore on my DK in Wotlk and quit when they nerfed LK. I played alot of games offhand while WoW was my main game on the other hand, played Flyff from release, quit around V7 or V8. Played Twelve Sky 1 from CB into OB and played it until Twelve Sky 2 came out, then I switched between both games until the first got shut down, then I stopped playing when most of my guildmates quit playing. I played GW the most offhand with WoW but quit once the first expansion came out. I rebought the whole collection but seem to have problems making and sticking with a specific character since so much has changed since I've last played. I've also been playing LoL on and off since CB but I've stuck to it nonstop since about November/October of last year.

WoW, played for 2 years and quit right before Cata came out, best decision ever.
Still play Ragnarok Online on and off, started playing about..5-7 years ago on P.servers but now play Official servers.
