Hey there, I just made a new blog detailing my time spent in two MMOs I'm trying to pick from, in an effort to make an informed decision and perhaps help someone else make a decision. I know there are plenty of people out there like me having one-month stands (maybe one-week, or one-night) with various different MMOs, looking for the right one to hold their attention.
A large problem I've seen in selecting a good free MMO for today is that many reviews for games are outdated because each site only reviews them on launch, I only ever see initial reviews and then news on content updates. This is especially true for games such as Allods. I had to do some real digging before I found out there ISN'T a gigantic death penalty anymore, and the Item Shop has been fixed to be much less pay-to-win. The game is infinitely more forgiving on F2P players than they were in Beta or at launch, making the game overall much more enjoyable, but none of the reviews say so.
This thread isn't to discuss which MMO is the best, but rather which MMO is the best for me. Or for you. Both LotRO and Allods are very different games, but both fall under the "high-quality free to play" umbrella. There are many other good F2P MMOs, and I've looked at just about all of them. These are the two that caught my attention, and I'm just trying to decide which to devote my time to right now.

Thats definitely a good way to put it. I like my lore, but I find interesting new crazy lore to be... Interesting and crazy. LotRO is a good game, and it does have great PvE but a total lack of good PvP. The main appeal with the lore in LotRO is it's so established and fleshed out, it's the ultimate "We did it first" of all games because any fantasy book, movie, or game since Tolkein has borrowed from Middle Earth.
The blog is mostly for my use as a journal to track what I'm doing so I don't just **** off and download some other MMO to try for 5 minutes. Actually going in-depth and writing what I do and don't like about each game and tracking what happens so I can compare is just helping my playing in general. I only started this today but it's almost like a meta-game, such as my IRL quest for the game each game is to join a guild and get to a medium level, etc. Totally unneeded, but whatever. It's there. Lol
