1960s?
I likely wouldn't have. 150 years ago, yes, probably.
Edit: I am an idiot.

Reputation: 28i dont think i would of i treat everyone equal no need to be racist we are all the same colour on the inside just out side is different
Reputation: 28yes i read the post but i just dont think i would be raceist then again i might have who knows i did not live 100 years ago
Reputation: 480I would've been racist as a muhfuka back then.
Cause i hate everyone, equally.
Reputation: 35If you hate everyone, then are you a racist lol?
From what I've learned it seems that almost all races had their fair share of racists 100 years ago. There was even inter-racial racism (i.e. Arabs from different countries didn't get along) So, I dont think that what race you were matters too much.
But that's just my opinion.
Well, that's pretty much it.
Reputation: 29The only reason I would say I am undecided is that now that I am able to think more critically about situations than I ever was I can honestly say my mind is a hell of a lot sharper even towards the latent racism that still exists today. (By latent I mean existent, but difficult to pick up on because it isn't intended to be hateful or racist).
If my mind developed in the same way (which I highly doubt) in the previous century, perhaps I would have the same views. Furthermore, I cannot honestly tell you. I want to say no, because that would be the right thing to do, but knowing full well the influence of how I was raised by my parents and the other influences of all the people around me chances are I would most likely be a racist or give little thought to the racist tendencies I have. This is solely on the basis that being racist would be more, "normal" back then. At least, coming from the perspective of a white male.

Racism and the consequences of it such as slavery did not occur only in the US. Part of the reason we have different languages (and dialects) is because of racism and slavery.
Part of the reason stereotypes about certain races is because skin color is one of the most obvious differences you see in people. You can't always see a person's beliefs or ideologies when you see them. Race is far easier.
Racism and the consequences of it (such as slavery) was not limited to the US. Part of the reason we have some languages (and dialects) is because of slavery and other forms of oppression.
I'm an American citizen but I don't identify with too many of the big topic issues/ideologies often associated with the American populace. Racism and the consequences of it
If this were the turn of 20th century instead of the 21st odds are I wouldn't have been born. Most of my biological family was still in other countries where prejudice (not always racism) was alive and well (and still is in some places).
I think I would have been angry, upset and more rebellious than I am now under those circumstances. Assuming they didn't kill me years ago because of my ideas and beliefs. I might've been a racist. Because of trade and importing routes many parts of Asia were opening up to foreigners but natives to any one particular land formed ideas and opinions about people they traded with. Not all those opinions were positive. It resulted in what I call 'territory wars,' slavery and violent hate crimes.
Under some circumstances you didn't have to be a foreigner. Sometimes all it took was a look or a question and your own family would disown you and leave you at the mercy of vengeful neighbors if they were so inclined.
A hundred years ago... you may have felt differently.
Angel Island on the West Coast is the Asian equivalent to Ellis Island on the East Coast. Some of my family members came to the US via Angel Island in the early 1900s. Sometime between 1906 and 1922.
That's not racism. You're misanthropic.
So you want to know if we think that, if every single aspect of our upbringing and personality were changed if we'd have agreed with a certain viewpoint? What a weird question. There's no way of answering it aside from 'maybe'.
Reputation: 317I sort of am a Racist now, why would I be it 100 years ago?? No, I'm not like. Hey! He's black, let's kick him. I'm more of a racist towards the asses that think they're everything.
