Playing female avatars in my games...(sigh)

I'm starting to think I should play guy avatars instead for the simple reason that people keep asking me 'are you a girl or boy irl' and if I'm honest I get hit on in the creepiest way possible. >.<

Being dishonest and implying I might be a guy is actually better nowadays.
I'd rather they assume that and avoid me!

That and I like the idea of my character being able to wear pants.

I (a male) had to play with a female avatar once since the game had gender locked classes. The amount of people asking the "are you a boy or a girl" question got so annoying that I eventually just picked one of the male classes.

Some of these people act like they've never seen a girl before.

Cool story bra. Most girls I met in mmos are complete drama queens. Especially, on teamspeak or skype. Always talking about things not relevant to the game we're playing. Always casual gamers. Almost never competative or serious. So yeah. Nothing wrong with that. But If I were a girl in a game, I would lie too. Just to be taken seriously. Because Im already biased....

The first time I decided to play a girl in an MMO was back when I tried out Jade Dynasty. When my character spawned the very first message in chat was some guy offering to powerlevel me.

i play female characters on 95% of games and this question never even comes up, i never get "hit on" or any of that crap..are you guys serious people just pick whatever you think looks better if the dudes aren't appealing make a female or if you don't like the female make the guy (an example for me is female light elf plainswalker on lineage2 doesn't look as good as the male PW to me but its a rare occurrence that i pick a male

its widely accepted that males can play female characters and females can play male characters in game because its your choice its your character your leveling for yourself

though all the real girls i knew also played females ingame and most of them bought costumes ect, even slutty ones also,don't think they don't buy slutty clothes cause they do, they enjoy it just like the guys

/rant in fact i cant stand how some north american guys don't like revealing clothes (TERA online for example i hear we are getting more clothed version?? why its so stupid im not a senile old man i like looking at hot toons, its a video game it shouldn't have to reflect real life, boring clothes is one of the things i cant stand on games

anyway back on topic: the only way to know if someone is a girl is to talk on voice chat with them until then its probably a safe bet to assume its a guy, but there are a lot more girls on mmorpgs then you may think

I'm a guy playing female char. Most ppl don't ask me if I am a guy or a girl though. Very few do, and I usually just reply something along the line of 'why does it matter' and so on.

For quite sometimes I played MMO with my friend who is a girl but played male character, and we usually played in duo. In party of guild raid when we use VoiP, ppl often mistook us one for another. They said we roleplayed very, very in-character, lol.

99% of the characters I have are female chars, because I always use the names Ambrosia and Achronia which doesn't go well on a male char.I've received lots of help just because other people think I am female irl, after i've received the help I usually ask - ''You know I am not a girl irl, right?'', and they never speak to me again.It's kinda funny, ridiculous and pity at the same time.But I don't really care what people think in computer games.
My advice to you is - just play your game and don't mind the freaking wankers out there!

Making a female character in Guild Wars ended me up in getting runs to every outpost in the game for free.

Don't think I ever really bother with either genders to be honest. I'll just go with whatever male classes there are and pick one.

I feel your avatar represents you in game. So I always roll male.
Only in one instance have i played a female character seriously, that was in Rift. Dwarf women had better, and more brutal combat animations.

I see nothing wrong with it, it can be awkward at times though. Ill stick with males though.

This so much, it's pretty damn annoying when you get people who try to use it as an excuse to play a gender opposite of yours. If you want to play as a female even though you're male good for you, I'd rather not know what perverted reason may be behind it. :I
