    Default iMac or Gaming PC?

I bought an iMac 2 days ago

    iMac 21.5 inch
    2.5 GHz Quad-Core
    Intel Core i5
    4GB Memory
    5GB HD
AMD RADEON HD6750m 512mb cost me about 1200

I like iMac because of the nice design and Osx but iv always had a PC... just now i decided to go with this iMac which i like for everything except gaming... Should i just go ahead and return this Mac buy a gaming pc for SWTOR? or just run it on Bootcamp

Unless you specifically want a Mac for something or have an overwhelming preference for Apple, the PC is the every man's computer.

Get a PC, there's pretty much nothing but advantages for the average consumer.

That being said, Bootcamp will work for a lot of things.

However, having a Mac does mean you can't manually upgrade a lot of things, which in the long run will probably be a hindrance.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear.

You shout and no one seems to hear.

If the studio is your idea, then you have to ask if ProTools or whatever DAW you want to use is really integral to your studio.

It sounds like you're new to this? If so, then you don't stand to lose anything if you start on a PC. As in, you don't have to relearn any software, because you are starting from scratch.

There are some DAWs that work perfectly well on PCs. Cubase is one of them, and it's still widely used. Sonar, Reason, Ableton Live etc.

Find one that suits your needs, and you can save a lot of money to spend on microphones, synths etc.

I don't know if GW2 will support OSX, but if you do decide to run Windows in BootCamp, your computer will handle it just fine. Official specs haven't been given out, but they have stated that they wanted to make a game that could run on any kind of computer (spec-wise)

Dude, when it comes down to it, it's up to you. If you enjoy using it then keep it, even if it isn't perfect. My neighbor likes to drive his 1972 Mustang pretty often, sure the fuel economy sucks and wastes him a lot of money, but he enjoys driving it. You live life once, so enjoy it.

Just ditch the Mac if you intend on using it for gaming.

If you only want the design from the iMac, search for styled cases. There are a few that looks quite like it. Windows is easily 'transformed' to look like OSX as well.

Mac. The ideal computer for people who don't even know if they want a Mac, after they have it.

Good to use for stuff... and such... and also things... like... you know... uhm...

How silly to even ask. It's absolutely perfect for you.

Bootcamp sucks. Use Parallels or Crossover.

I don't PC game any more, and i plan on getting a mac, probably a mac book. if you want gaming get a PC, but with mac you can download anything without worry of viruses, with the very few viruses out there for macs can be avoided by encrypting your hard drive so hackers cannot get your information. PC's are the best for gaming, as a large portion of games do not format the game for apple products, but i would suggest keeping the mac, for everyday use.

mac is such a waste of money unless you have to use it.

    PC all the way.

You can put any OS you want on it. there is always a solution for pc. not for mac.

That's actually false, you can just as easily get malware on Macs. I'd be curious to see where you got this "information" from as it sounds a lot like typical hearsay from people who don't even use computers.

    1. You can give a computer-illiterate porn addict a mac, come back in a year and it will be clean as a whistle.

    2. There are few anti-virus softwares out there for mac simply because you don't need one.

It's not typical hearsay, it's statistically true.

The reason people perceive Macs as being "immune to viruses" is because of the operating system, not the brand of computer(which is why the claim itself is stupid).

Most statistics such as those are based on the assumption every PC is running windows, despite there being plenty of people who run Linux(which is what OSX is at it's core).

If you had said "OSX generally gets less viruses then Windows due to a smaller market and the differences in the operating system" I'd be more inclined to agree.

The Mac operating system is already based on Linux(more specifically freeBSD).

I don't get it, why are you splitting hairs over nothing?

When someone refers to a Mac being less prone to virus, most of the time they mean a Macintosh computer, that is running Mac OSX, you know, and not referring to dual-booting windows or whatever. And you really don't need statistics to get a feel that Windows is much more vulnerable to being infected, over Linux and Mac.

Main thing is you dismissed the statement that a mac is less vulnerable in terms of viruses and spyware, and that just seems to be a strange oversight in comprehension on your part...

It's not the statement about Mac's that annoyed me, it is the assumption that a PC is inherently running Windows.

Switch to a PC. You have more options on a PC than a Mac.

Macs getting popular (important keyword here!), which means viruses will be popping up fast to annoy those idiots that think they'll be buying a safe OS.

    Your turn.

    ITT:
People who believe that there is no maleware for any nixoid OS.

    Lawl.

Linux is virus free, because patches spread just as fast as viruses do.

    MacOs?
A "Deny till you die" press conference is not a good way to counter the rampant security holes of your variant of a deprecated OS with no userbase.
    Swiss-cheese security...
