Just stopping in quick to say hello and introduce myself.
I've just joined this site after deciding to say adieu to another one that I'd been a member of for about 7 years. Over the past year or two, that site has been going downhill faster than a mountainside home in a landslide and I've been inching ever closer toward making that move. A recent event on there have helped "push me over the edge", so to speak.
I won't name which site it was, but I'm sure it wouldn't take many guesses to figure it out.
I've been checking out other online gaming sites and have found this one to be the most ideal for what I'm looking for. So, here I am.
In any case! I'm an avid (read: addicted) MMO gamer who's been playing them since the early days of Shadowbane, Asheron's Call 2, Anarchy Online and some others from that period. My mainstays for many years had been Final Fantasy XI and Lineage 2, with a mix of EQ2 and a few others thrown in from time to time, for variety.
I'm finding it harder to find a "home" in terms of a MMO these days as nothing seems to be keeping me hooked the way those older ones could.
I'm an aspiring game designer and have been working (slowly) away at the early design (documentation, charts, tables, concepts, all that fun stuff) for it, as well as researching different potential game engines to bring it all together. I'll likely be introducing and discussing that project here on the Game Design forums from time to time, when I feel ready to do so.
Before all that, I'm creating a prototype to give an idea of how the game will look and play and, perhaps, to drum up some interest in beginning to build a team to help make it work. I don't expect anyone to have any serious interest in it until I'm able to show that I'm serious about making it happen.
So anyway, look forward to chatting with everyone.
