Ok asking a question on auto insurance here maybe a little unusual, but i am more familiar with this forum than any auto forums.
The situation is this, I was driving in the parking lot of a mall in searching of a space to park my car, while another car suddenly pulled out of a parking space and the back of their car bumped into the side of my car's bumper. Since this is my first auto accident, i didn't know what to do beside going apeshit at the driver of the other car, after the other driver kept making excuses as to not seeing while she was in reverse and pulling out of the parking space, even though my car was stationary. I called my dad first, and he came to check on the accident. He told me not to bother with the police, nor the insurance company since the damage was hardly noticeable, and that I can try to settle this as quietly as possible. After obtaining the license and insurance info of the opposite party, we both drove our separate ways. But i then realized that i should've written down a piece of paper stating they will pay for all repair costs and make them sign it. After getting back home, my mom told me that the other party would probably not pay for the repair bill since i forgot to get them to sign some responsibility statement, and that the police won't believe the other party's car bumped into mine since theres basically no mark, but i still wanted some sort of compensation. do you guys think its too late for me to demand any types of compensation? what can i do if they refuse my demand?
For something legal and stuff like this, you ask someone who knows what they're doing: IE. parents, lawyers, whatever. Not some random people on a video game forum.
