    http://tinyurl.com/7l9zgwd

Hey all! Mark your calendars because we have a little treat prepared for you on Friday 1/20/2012. At 4 PM PST we are having an interview with Destructoid and we will be live streaming the event. Following the interview, we will be unveiling our unannounced PvP map. With the remaining time, we will have a Q&A session with you, the community. The stream ends at 5 PM PST. This will all be live on Twitch.tv at www.twitch.tv/r5studios so be sure to get your own questions ready, we will be taking them from the stream’s chat channel at the time of the stream."

This information is a great boon for the community after the recent announcements of Firefall going 'dark' on January 18th in their solidarity protest of PIPA and SOPA.

"In protest of SOPA and in solidarity with other Internet properties, we will be going dark on January 18th. The website will be down and the beta will not take place.

Odd seeing a game in extremely closed beta protesting SOPA by going dark, but I much appreciate the thought.

It would sound better if say Facebook was going dark..A free to play game going dark..thats relatively dark as is..WoW or Diablo 3..now that'd be something.

the bill will never effect blizzard, actually in all honesty it helps them being as large as they are do you have any idea how many wow private servers and diablo 3 copys are being torrented? if sopa passes they can litterally get them shut down instantly without having to go through court like they currently do.

the thing about sopa is it doesn't hurt big companies like blizzard because every thing they use they own and create from scratch, why go dark or oppose something that is basically made for you?

anyways i hope to see many many more websites go dark i kind of wish onrpg would as well even if we are a relatively small community every little bit helps.

also another thing to note, Activision supports sopa aka the parent company of blizzard.

Make an article about the SOPA protest but can't even get the correct photo. That is the Razer team, not Red 5 Studios. Here is a Facebook snippet they made:

Did you ever think that the article is using the picture from Razer because of the message that is being displayed? Please, think before you speak next time!

We arent free from SOPA, it can still come back haunting. Also, that Razer crew picture also has 3 Red 5 crew members like Mark Kern, CEO.

@DizzyPW Its odd to fight against SOPA just because they are under closed beta stage? You're being silly and illogical here.

Do you know how stupid that sounds? They are always working on the game, regardless if the servers are down or up.

Congress only cares about the economic and social impact in reference to this bill. How many people do Red 5 affect by shutting down their beta and website for a day? I'm saying it's nice in principle but the impact is so small that no one would really notice.

I'd be more impressed if they came out and said they are donating x amount of $ to an organization lobbying against the bill. This company has spent $1 million (not even an exaggeration) on statues to sit in front of PAX Prime so I know it's not beyond their capacity.

Second Option: Hold a competition to get fans to write to their congressmen and then post proof on the forums that they participated to win a chance of getting into the beta testing. I'd check with the company's lawyers to make sure it wasn't stepping on any red-tape but I think this would be far more effective at influencing politics than their blackout strategy.

Edit: Just heard about Red 5 Studios forming the "League for Gamers" group. That's more inline with what I'd expect of them

You know I don't think people made a big enough impact to even affect this bill. The only people who actually care about stoping the bill is people who know something about the internet and people who don't know about the internet they think oh their just being righteous and trying to stop piracy. But this actually do affect them.

Although I support sopa.... I lie... that's a lie... no, that's a lie... the lie before that lie is a lie.... the lie after, before the one before, after that one is a lie...

Anywho the way I see it hardly anything has been done to stop this and don't even look like it's going down like some glitch where you kill the freaking mob and yet it don't die (or a unkillable zombie). Although google joining in do kinda make give off a feeling where sopa/pipa might not make it.

    Zombie
