    Default Activision/Blizzard supporting SOPA

    http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/n...pporting-sopa/

Activision, the parent company of Blizzard supports SOPA. For all you WoW addicts out there, do you support SOPA too?

If you don't support the bill but you still pay them 15 dollars a month to play WoW, you should be ashamed of yourselves. They will probably use that money to finance their SOPA campaign. Shame on you WoW addicts!

Here is your time to make a change for the better. If you are a WoW addict or any gamer who plays Activision/Blizzard games, boycott their decision by signing the petition below that states you will stop playing their games for good starting today or if/when the bill is passed in the future.

Let your voice be heard! Dont be a puppet for them! These two game companies make lots of money already from you (the gamer) and it seems like they don't care about what you think either. They are all about making more and more profit. This bill, if passed, will destroy many small game companies/start-ups/innovations. This could mean no more Youtube, no more flickr, no more sharing. There will be many lawsuits in the technology/gaming/media sectors. I ask you to stop supporting game companies that want a bill you would only see in countries like China or Iran to be passed.

It will effect the entire video game industry. Not just Americans you silly fools.

If I'm not an American citizen, I don't want any Americans sticking their fingers where they don't belong. If passed this shouldn't effect any websites/databases outside the US. And the US shouldn't be able to punish someone not from their country.

Considering how a pizza is now a vegetable I think SOPA/PIPA is very likely to succeed. Just shows that everything is possible in America.

    Sadly it isn't over either....

    SOPA is still alive...

For non-Americans, you may want to check out what the rest of the world is up to in secret:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.
This gives me chills up my spine after reading some of your responses in this thread.

Saying something like "oh lol it doesn't effect me I'm in another country" is so stupid man. When it comes to the internet, everything effects you. On the internet its not about individual countries, its about the ****ing GLOBE.

Here's how SOPA could affect us (in an ONRPG sense). Almost all of our avatars and signatures alone would be illegal. Not to mention nearly every posted video as well.

What makes this situation so ****ed up is that most of these things are US based.

I don't think Blizzard or for that matter Activision have a say in this because they're both owned by Vivendi which is a huge conglomerate which includes universal music group among others, so yea I bet they don't have a choice.

I just wish Blizzard was it's own company, no Activision and no Vivendi.

They would not go directly at you. But what would onrpg be like with no money? It would cease to exist.

I'll gladly sign it even though i'm in Australia, we have run into our own problem with 'internet nazi's' or as they call themselves, politicians...

Right idea around stopping internet piracy, poor execution..
Whether or not SOPA passes will have a direct effect on the internet policy here, especially with the likes of Senator Conroy & Former Attorney General Robert McClellend.

Especially when people consider that the majority of internet infrastructure is in the United States.

Thanks for signing the petition guys. I hope you spread the word to more gamers who currently play WoW.

This bill would affect everyone (it's the world wide web guys!). America is the center of it. Most of the websites you visit are created right here in America. Can you name one website coming from another country other than the US that has a global reach like Youtube, Facebook, Flickr, wikipedia, reddit, craigslist, etc. does? It's very hard to name one.

The majority of websites you visit today are hosted on American servers too. I can already tell that if this bill passes, a lot of companies would be sued and would have to move their operations/assets out of America. America will not be that country of opportunity anymore. It would be some other country that allows online piracy. Our unemployment rate would rise even higher than before. Is this what Activision/Blizzard wants?

Mark Zuckerberg was inspired to tweet for the first time since March 13th 2009 about SOPA. He wrote this today on his twitter account @finkd (his last tweet was almost 3 years ago lol):

Tell your congressmen you want them to be pro-internet. My Facebook post is here: https://www.facebook.com/zuck/posts/10100210345757211
    https://twitter.com/#!/finkd

It's good to know that the facebook founder is against SOPA too.
