Cops: Man skinned and ate cat, used tail as necklace
Also told police he was going to use animal's skeleton as party decorations

PHOENIX — A transient was arrested after police said he skinned and ate a cat while camping inside a Phoenix warehouse and music venue.

Authorities say the building's owners reported a burglary after they opened the warehouse Wednesday and heard blaring music.

Police found 24-year-old Russell Christopher Hofstad inside with his face painted and the cat's tail and intestines around his neck.

    Hunger claimed
Hofstad told police he killed the cat because he was hungry. He also said he was going to use its skeleton as party decorations.

He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and animal cruelty.

The Arizona Republic reported that Hofstad had been released from jail Jan. 10 and told police he had nowhere to go. He decided to camp in the building because he had attended music events there.

I like to play a game where I look at peoples mugshots and try to take a guess at what they were arrested for before I look.

I mean, while it seems pretty far fetched I would have guessed right, that guys face does just SCREAM "cat eater".

That's not really that strange though. Humans have been using various animals parts for all kinds of things since forever, especially bone.

It's not news of the week but people have been hearing the same strange noise all over I think. I saw videos of it not too long ago.

Yes, but were they making party decorations out of their bones?

*shrug* maybe he's into the macabre? I mean people decorate their houses with all kinds of things. Some folk find it completely acceptable to place taxidermy as wall hangings in a home so using the remains of animals as decorations shouldn't be something abnormal.

Don't people marvel at the remains ancient creatures in museums? Is it strange that we decorate those buildings with those objects? Is it only ok because they are no longer around? Or is it a matter of location that is what makes it socially acceptable in a museum and not in a home?

Decorations aside, hell, women even used to wear bone corsets to help them keep their "shape" *shrug*.

Oh right, he wanted them to be laid out at a party so that's what's strange, right? I'm still amazed though that humans find it perfectly normal to cut down a tree, place that mug in the center of their house and cover it in tinsel or creamate their deceased family members and placed them in urns in their homes but hey, different strokes. We all celebrate and revere differently.
