    Default Soul Worker Online

Sup. I've been lurking the forums for ages now every time I wanted my MMO fix, but today I found something so amazing I just had to make an account and share it with you.

I'd like to introduce you all to Soul Worker Online. All I know so far is what I've gathered from the trailer below. It looks like it's some sort of post-apocalyptic beat-em'-up with an anime artstyle. In one word, awesome. I kind of get this Shin Megami Tensei vibe from it, other people compare it to God Eater Burst and Black Rock Shooter, either way I'm hyped as hell and probably after seeing this video you will be too.

Information - I'll put everything I learn about the game here. All info is gathered from the few websites covering the game, which means it may not be 100% accurate.

In Soul Worker Online, you play as a "psychic" teenager who uses his/her emotions (called "Soul") to power their "Soul Workers", which are a bunch of different weapons. The gameplay trailer and concept art depict a chainsaw, a large canon-type weapon, dual pistols, dual swords, a scythe, and a greatsword. Every weapon is fueled by a different emotion, and represents a different "class".

Soul is generated through combat, and can be used to perform a Zenith attack, which is probably an ultimate attack dependent on which weapon you have. Two players can perform an even more powerful Zenith attack called a Coordination attack if they activate it together.

It is possible to craft weapons using materials collected by multiple characters across one account, which apparently are more powerful than an average weapon.

The game takes place in the "void city" called Cloudrealm, where everyone besides the psychics and a bunch of monsters have disappeared. Throughout the course of the game, players will learn how and why the disaster occurred, and possibly how to stop or reverse it.

Soul Worker Online is stage-based, with each stage (called a "Maze") which constantly changes so it doesn't get stale. Everything from the difficulty of the enemies to the puzzles you will encounter is different every time. Stages can also have various environmental hazards, an example of which appears in the trailer (the roof collapsing).

The artstyle is cell-shaded and looks like an anime in 3D form, which I think looks brilliant. And the music sounds great, too!

Combat will be from a third person perspective and will be in the form of a "beat em' up", where you can hit multiple enemies at once and chain large combos together. There will be groups of weaker enemies, as well as large boss encounters. So far the enemies seem really slow and sluggish, but (hopefully) they will be sped up later into development. You guys also said that the combos look a little slow, but I'm not so sure about that. We'll see when the game comes out.

    Release Date
The game is set for a Closed Beta test in 2012, with a full release in 2013. An Asian release is planned first (China, Japan, etc.), but that might mean they may decide to release it globally or here. Pray to whatever gods or deities you worship that it gets released globally or NA!

    Looks similar to Rusty Hearts.

You think so? I gotta disagree. Rusty Hearts had a sort of "steampunk" feel going for it, and was a side-scrolling beat em' up.

But besides the comparison, does it look interesting or fun?
