Just a reminder that you can purchase gems with gold. Also, I don't think it's that bad. You're getting a B2P MMO here, where you can purchase everything in the cash shop without paying any real money.

Hrm, only thing I was sort of interested in was the transmutation stuff.
Also 5 character slots with 8 professions. Need to buy 3 to be able to get 1 of each profession.
I won't be using it gem shop, unless I manage to cap out my 5 characters and absolutely feel the need to play the other 3.
Either way I don't mind this, most of it is just "gain stuff faster" kind of things. Or cosmetic stuff.

You need to look at the cash shop as an add on. It's an additional feature that has nothing to do with games mechanics, unlike most f2P crap (allods comes to mind) Spend what you will there or don't, it wont make or break you. I look at it as a bonus. But to complain and say fail, that's ******ed.
GW2 will become the new norm in other games aping in to come...

The only thing to me that looks a bit sketchy right now is that revive stone, and the mystic key. But Slade says you can buy those things using in game gold, or at least buy the points needed. So it shouldn't be a problem. Besides, this is the first bit of info we got about the cash shop, I'm sure it'll change.

Watching the amount of drama that leak has stirred on guru is quite amusing, to say the least.
I don't really dislike the cash shop, though I can't say I fancy the idea of having to purchase Bag Slot Unlocks for each of my characters; and that's because I tend to delete and create characters all the time. Other than that, seems alright.
According to some people, the Perfect Salvage Kits and Mystic Keys can be accessed normally in the game; meaning that this is just a faster way of obtaining them. How true is that... well, I'll let you judge that.
Edit: Apparently it's something around 5$ for 400 gems, according to a not so trustful source. It'd take it with a grain of salt, if anything.

i'm not sure how gem<->gold works.. but if its auction house/market between players and not by its system, inflation will occur as game progress.

The objects that worries me are the extra character slots and bag upgrades...
I wonder how many character slots everyone gets by default and what the largest bags are that are available in the game with the normal currency. We all saw it coming 2 years ago, a lot of newsposts and articles featuring that micro transactions brings in a lot more money but I do think they are taking it a little over the top. We'll see, I think ArenaNet has it all figured out and I trust them
