The portable Disgaeas are always better than the console ones TBH since they have extra features and are great single player RPG time sinks, well at least that's been the case with 1 and 2 and the expectation for 3. MH and the games of similar type (God Eater, Lord of Arcana, Ragnarok Odyssey) are more of a co op game. Fun solo but a lot more enjoyable with people playing with you. Still debating though if I want to get MH on the 3DS, Vita or both.
Basically though, with Disgaea you'll get 100's of hours of gameplay from it solo and MH 100's of hours more so with co op.
Side note:
Other titles to take a look at would be Persona 4 The Golden and Ys: Celceta no Jukai.

I've never played any of those other 2 games. if I hop in on number 3 will it be ok? I've been looking at getting it.

You can buy disgaea 2 on the playstation store ( on the vita ) , I will buy disg 2 and 3 for sure :P + monster hunter freedom unite because I heard it's an awesome game.Originally Posted by Oisterboy

MH freedom unite has an 800+MB file size. Dunno about it's save file size
Disgaea 3 is reported to be over 2 gigs with a 96MB save file size.
You'd basically need a min of 4 gigs to be on the safe side if you plan on getting a digital copy of D3 along with MH, which I think is the minimum anyway.
