Default Upgrading GPU. 7970 or 680?

I've recently decided to upgrade my GPU from a 560 TI to either a XFX 7970 or a 680 GTX. The problem with this is that I'm unaware of the pros and cons of either card.

My current set-up is as follows:
    CPU - i5 2500k @ 4.5ghz
GPU - EVGA SC 560 TI
    RAM - 8GB DDR3
    MOBO - Asrock z68 Extreme3 Gen3
    Single monitor @ 1920x1080

I've forgotten the exact wattage of my PSU, but I'm positive it's in the range of 700-800. So a power issue isn't a problem.

Just curious to know peoples experiences with either card and their opinions on each.

    Check out this comparison: http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphi...d-7970-clocks/

I personally would go for the 680; I'm upgrading my 580 to one soon, but I'm generally an nVidia fanboy anyway.

Edit: Also an MSI fanboy, so I'll be going for the Twin Frozr III edition.

    Thank you for that website.
I was unaware that there was even a Twin Frozr version of the 680, but now I've looked into it and the price isn't as ridiculous as I thought it would be.

I would consider myself a Nvidia fanboy as well, but I was pretty disappointed with the performance of this 560 TI. Maybe it was just this card in particular, but my FPS was trash in quite a few games when attempting to max them out. (Nexuiz for example only capped at 30)
