    Default Difference in expulsion

So i moved out of the parents house and got an apartment through my out-patient, yada yada, and i have a roommate. Well ive noticed some odd behavior at night over the weekend.

Essesntially im wondering if diarrhea(i havent had it in a while so i have forgotten) and vomitting have a different sound? Hell also run the shower or the fan/ sink when he goes in and ill hear what i think is vomitting. Hell also come out of the bathroom sniffling when he wasnt sniffling before he went in and the sniffling stops like 5mins later.

So basically i think my roommate may be bulimic. And given my drinking days, if im not mistaken, i think im hearing vomitting and not diarrhea. Never got a sniffly nose from diarrhea. Theres a bit more that leads me to this, but is not necessary to say. I just need to know if the sound of vomit and diarrhea are distinctive enough to tell a difference?

If they do have different sounds, which im pretty sure they do, i gotta figure out what to do, if anything, now...

Edit: im on my phone, apartment does not have internet, so im a little restricted on my accesibility to the internet. So that im asking here and not somewhere more pertanent to the subject.

If you have diarrhea so bad that it sounds like your vomiting, your eyes water and your sniffling then you better get them to the hospital asap as they will get dehydrated to the point of death (diarrhea is the number one symptom that kills more people than the issues its a symptom of) very quickly, and what ever is causing probably isn't a joke either.

In short no they sound very different, and your roommate is in help either way eating disorder or very bad diarrhea both won't end well unless treated.

I guess what I am saying if he/she is your roommate not you best buddy don't be afraid to approach them about it, as long as they keep paying their bills hurt feelings don't matter, but a burned out esophagus does.

On a side note if you can hear the roommate make a audible sounds like errraaaearrrrraa just before the noise then puking is more than likely whats going on. (I'm guessing that's what the fan/shower are meant to drown out)

Edit: In short yes I believe your roommate is puking as vomiting and shitting in no way shape or form sound familiar and he/she is obviously covering it up with the shower/fan...come on who turns the shower on every time they enter the bathroom.

Well its why im asking. I dont need to make hasty decisions. Not really something to accuse someone off unless your absolutely positive. Its not eveytime he goes in. Hes on a strict diet during the week, no sweets or anything and hes on a strict workout routine. Past 2 weekends hes gone to his parents. This weekend he stayed at the apartment. He ate a bunch of sweets and stuff at night and he "took a shower" within like 30 mIns. Friday i first heard it. Saturday it happened like twice. While he was in i heard, what seemed like, vomitting, coughing, sniffling and spitting. When he came out he was sniffling, sounded hoarse, was moaning. I asked him if his stomach was upset and all i got was a moan. Im pretty sure its vomitting, but like i said i dont want to make hasty decisions and start accusing things i may be mishearing.

Hes a friend through treatment and AA. So hes not simply a roommate.

Might not be full blown bulimia but his "strict" diet and a bad head space resulting from the AA(not the AA its self but the act of quitting) is definitely giving him some bulimic tendencies. To be honest I am not really sure how to approach someone who is bulimic as my people skills are well...fairly rigid and cold and might not be the best thing to do especially if the bulimic tendencies are the result of emotional issues and less on out side stresses (sports competition for instance).

but everything your describing sounds like he is covering it up, do you know his parents at all? You could mention it to them as it might be an all ready known issue that he is trying to deal with. Just some food for thought as it could be the case and talking with them might eliminate any needless drama with the roommate/friend, but it could also back fire.

There really is no easy way out of this kind of situation you gotta ask/find out some how even if he ends up hating your guts it's for the better.
