Its not a bad deal but is your mother board a FM1 socket? If its not the same cpu socket type it can be a good deal from here to Sunday, won't do you any good if it can't be installed.

New egg offers pretty good deals on cpu/mobo combo's, as long as you have ddr2 ram you shouldnt need to buy new ram either.

    here are some

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.916054

This one is for an athlon triple core- not really high end but you get the cpu and mo bo for $114, and it should be more than enough to handle anything unless gaming is your life then you might want to buy higher end stuff.

More amd (as you asked about amd so im assuming you want amd, intel is nice but cost more $$)

A quad core combo for $180

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.895116

There are many for for the $200+ range im not sure what your price range is. Also if you have a fairly up to date mother board can you list the socket type? As if it s fairly recent socket type you can get away with buying just the cpu.

Go to start, run, type in dxdiag and look up your mother boards information online, it might even give you the socket type in the dxdiag.

Also if you know the name and model of your current cpu, its socket type will be that of your mother boards.

here is a small program that should tell you your socket type under the motherboard tab.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181 It called everest (I installed it and nothing bad happened) picture dxdiag but a little more in depth.

    sorry man I meant ddr3.

    No big deal

The triple core cpu/motherboard combo I linked to for $114 is using the AM3 socket a much more popular and support socket type.

While the triple core isnt the be all end all it will be an upgrade over you 1.9 dual core, and it allows for a quick and easy upgrade to a quad core or 6 core amd processor as they all use the AM3 socket.

The combo with some ddr3 ram will run ya

    $114 for the combo

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.910954

$35 for 2 2 gig ddr3 sticks (again im going for lowest cost im not sure what you budget is.)

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148559

So $149 plus shipping to make a quick upgrade to a triple core with 3.3ghz and 4 gigs of ddr3 ram.

Again these are just some ideas for though im not sure what you plans are (Your in the same boat as me an aging processor and an outdated motherboard/ram), new egg has some combo deals for the fm1 socket type with quad core's but you will need ram as all new motherboards mostly support only ddr3 with some supporting ddr2/3 (cost more).

No problem, I would suggest making a post about building a pc if you haven't done so before, I have only built one so I am sure some of the more experienced members of onrpg could be more helpful. (if you need help etc etc)

    and you are welcome.
