Well doesn't the NDS have internet capabilities (at least thru Wi-fi?). The NDS is probably powerful enough to support a pokemon game with an online and offline option. And if it's not, they could easily make their next portable console more than powerful enough. The technology is there.

I would gladly buy an NDS (something I haven't done since it first came out... my last Nintendo product was the gamecube, last handheld was the GBA) for an online pokemon game.

There are a shitton of wi-fi hotspots everywhere. I live in a medium sized Kansas town and my favorite Chinese restaurant has wi-fi. And it's just your average family-run deal. There's also libraries, McDonalds, Starbucks, I'm not even going to try and list them all.

Plus there's home, I think just about every router coming out now doubles as a wi-fi hotspot.

It's not hard to include single and multiplayer in to a game. It could be seamless, as well. When you're not in an area with internet, instead of having to choose single-player manually, you could just be playing the same game without other trainers there. But when you get back to an area with internet, trainers will start to pop up on your screen (if they're in your area).

If they wanted to make it even greater, they could also release a PC version (I would also buy that) that is compatiable/you can play with DS users. When you're at home, you could play on the computer, when you've got to go see your relatives, pack your handheld.

It could work, if they wanted it to.

I don't know if the NDS is strong enough honestly, the 3DS however might be.

They may work on an online thing with a handheld, it's certainly a possibility, but I wouldn't hold my breath for seeing any genuine PC MMO for the game. I'm still surprised they did the whole Dream World thing with Black/White. About the only problem with it is if that website ever goes away, but by then I have the feeling the lifespan of Black/White will have run its course anyway.

Crater died somehow. I used to be a GM&Mod of Pokémon World Online (PWO). It was really great, but after I left the staff changed and PWO pretty much died.

I have no idea. It would be a great idea and I had to say this bit it is true that a Pokemon MMO would make great revenue from a monetization perspective. I'm guessing Nintendo doesn't want to ruin the franchise or brand of Pokemon by moving it from console to PC.

I play red, blue, yellow, and a little bit of the other colors but I can't keep up with all the new pokemon lol. I enjoy the new features that are added and the new music but the new Pokemon vs the classic Pokemon....two different things. Not sure what the marketing strategy was there...maybe Nintendo wanted to expand more on the franchise but are being careful about transitioning to PC.

nothing wrong with it, just make it like Atlantica online turn base like those games and its still have Pokemon feel and strategy, but playing the game itself thro the story but dont play on wifi is 2 different things, since wifi requires alot more work lol..one wrong move and its over , when to switch pokemon when to use protect and alot more, requires more skill than mmorpg nowadays lol

The problem there, is that they're already slowly ramming it in to the ground. Their games that are coming out bring nothing radically new to the franchise. It's just been the same formula since Gold/Silver, the only time that the franchise made a radical change in how the games played.

As for pokemon in general, they're running the show in to the ground. At this point, it just feels like a pointless, endless coma dream that has no end nor real progress. Of course, I'm speculating from the few times I bit the bullet and watched a few episodes of the newer series. I haven't actually watched the pokemon TV series since my mom bought me the episodes on VHS when I got good grades. It never appealed to me, only the video games and the card game, and the card game was more of a collecting thing.

The pokemon that are coming out now are so uncreative and repetitive compared to the original generation of pokemon.

What I'm trying to say is; it appears that Nintendo is trying to make pokemon die a slow death, sticking to the same formula, with very small differences at most, just to make money without having to invest much more than the bare minimum. I don't know why they do this, I don't follow Nintendo.
