Path of Exile which I'm pretty sure everyone knows about, just updating that POE is coming out soon (mid-August) the current updates are
0.9.10: Party system enchanced with party boards in each town, better PUG loot system, Things just got harder in Cruel, Ruthless and Merciless with stronger mobs and more of them (already scary playing any non armour class the miniboss in act 1 cruel one shots you) ((this is coming out in June 5th))
0.9.11: Among other changes, this patch will enable the new end-game (which we have been hinting at for a while) and the Act Two final boss. It will include the ability to swap between weapon sets.
0.9.12: This patch will fix most of the issues with Minions. It will also introduce PvP arenas and the ability to challenge other players to duel. We expect to improve the Brutus fight in this patch as well.
0.9.13: A secure trade screen and substantial update to server stability and capacity is scheduled for this patch.
0.10.0: The official Open Beta release, which we expect will be deployed a week or so after 0.9.13. It will have Act Three enabled, voice acting for most of the NPCs and characters, as well as a range of cosmetic micro-transactions to purchase. ((Mid August))
Incase you didn't know Path of exile is it is a Rogue-like game on the lines of Diablo 1 and 2, which has various of interesting mechanics like
Passive Skills
Passive skill tree is a giant huge grid of skills which every class shares and classes only change where you start in the skill grid (it is like the FF10 sphere grid)
Usually they offer
-small stat bonuses
- small bonuses to a specific thing
- Medium bonuses after picking a bunch of small bonuses
- Huge bonuses that have a down side (aka You can never miss, but you can never critical, or you loose the effect of your shield but your minions gain it)
Gear and Economy
Is the typical Normal/Magical/Rare/Unique item (but unique items don't suck >.>) in diablo 2, i so far havent seen any "set" gear or green's from diablo and there isn't a crafting system so far.
All gear but belt/potions/rings/amulet/quivers have sockets of the three stats Strength being red, Intelligence being blue, and Dexterity being Green, usually the stat of the item require will have the higher chance of being the socket you are suppose to socket your skill gems into these unlike diablo 1-3's stat gems and can have links which you can then put passive gems into to buff a skill up with bonuses.
There is no gold period in this game but still are vendor, this game uses a barter system using various items you get from the game which are orbs and identify scrolls. When selling stuff you will get shards in which when you get an exact amount you will be rewarded a orb. These orbs also have effects from making an item a magical/rare/chance of any rarity... to improving the quality of a item, to removing the magical properties of a item, or giving you a refund point for your passive tree.
Skill Gems
There are three colours of skill gems Red (Strength), Green (Dexterity), Blue (Intelligence). They can be equip to socketed gear and while in combat and killing mobs (dont have to use the skills) will give them exp to increase upon level up giving them various bonuses while increasing the mana cost of the skill and required stat to use such a skill gem
There is Active skills such as Glacial hammer, shock wave totem, or Wrath (an aura that gives you lightning damage) which are all player usable skills
secondly there is passive skill gems which work kinda like runes in Diablo 3 though not forced per skill they're equiped into linked sockets giving skills different effects like multiple projectiles, chance to fear, add lightning damage
which will now update the skill on your skillbar with such effects so if I gave my skeletons a chance to fear my mobs on hit have a chance to cause fear on my enemies
Classes
There are six classes in total 3 Primary stat classes
Marauder (Str)
Ranger (Dex)
Witch (Int)
In which all the classes are in the passive skill tree surrounded by their primary stat passives, a witch will be beside more mana, more fire damage from spells, while a marauder will be beside two handed weapon, more health
then the Three mix stat classes
Shadow (Dex/Int)
Fencer (Dex/Str)
Templar (Str/Int)
They're all in between the two classes stats making them be able to hybrid off to being spell casting warrior like or a quick but strong warrior
Each stat has it's own kind of armour
Str= Armour which is pure % damage mitigation
Dex= Dodge which is % dodge
Int= Energy shield something akin of the protoss energy shield or master chiefs energy shield, acting like health but in no way can be healed other then not getting hit and letting it recover
The mix classes will tend to get armour that has 2 of the less stats compared to pure stat armour
A robe might give you 40 shield, plate might give you 40 armour, the chain mail (aka int/str set) will give you 20 armour and 20 shield.
Play Path of Exile (in August or pay 10$ to get a key and cash shop money with it)(it is currently Act 1 (W/Boss) Act 2 (With out boss))
