Default After watching several seasons of Criminal minds....

It inspired me to become more social and outgoing. Also it showed me to improve my emotional intelligence, behavior analysis and just overall become more observant. Using empathy and logic to do a psychological profile of somewhat is just plain awesome.

Utilizing these set of skills if what is going to make me more social.

Know what's really spiffy? Some of us with PDD(mine being the 'well known' Asperger's syndrome) don't possess empathy!

I've learned to mimic it the best I can honestly, it's really..uhm, like outing yourself if you don't exhibit it at all.(they think you're some soulless tool or something haha)

    I am curious now.

What is it like not possessing empathy!! DO you know when someone is sad, happy, mad?

mind=blown at how you conduct your social life.

It's weird. I have no formal training(some do seek it out and it REALLY helps) but I've taught myself to try and read people the best I can to understand how they feel. I'm certainly not perfect at it and probably never will be, HOWEVER I've gotten really good at eye contact&when/how to use it.

I hate phone calls! I lose such a huge portion of what lets me understand people! I don't pick up on voice inflections and such THAT well yet so only having half the picture ****ing ssuuuucccckkkssss. WHILE TEXTING AND TYPING ON THE OTHERHAND ARE SUPER EASY AND I LOVE IT!

Why you may ask? Because everyone states how they feel as words or acronyms! It's so 2D that's it's simple for me to grasp. Is someone in a good mood? You can tell because they'll "lol" or "haha" or simply tell you, same with anything else. There is no undertone or implying things subtly via gestures and what not, it's all text;one format.

Side note: My ability to understand people becomes easily diminished with the more stimuli there is around me. I think this is because it's all mechanisms and rules I've made up for myself, so the more i have to take in around me the harder it is for me to 'translate' my intake into something i comprehend. Where as for most it all comes pretty naturally to them, so stimuli overload though stressful doesn't actively impede their abilities.

Hopefully this makes sense. I've never been socially "normal" so I'm doing what I can to convey what it's like. Nice to talk about seriously though, most of the time it's just 'HURR HURR YOU HAVE *** BURGERS" lol...

Do you sometimes take figure of speech literally?

Not as much as I used to. As a child this was a really prevalent problem but I try to stay in the know-how if you will so that I don't go hyper literal on people haha. It does still happen from time to time, it's quite funny actually.(gotta learn to be humored by your own actions and all)

    My brother has Asperger's.

He doesn't lack in the ability to feel empathy or other related emotions, he just has a very hard time picking up on cues that tell him what other people are feeling. And when you straight up don't know what other people are feeling/you assume they're just in a neutral state, then it's hard to be empathetic.

So when someone is crying or depressed he would have a hard time figuring it out?

It is easy to tell when someone is depressed/worry. Their reaction time is slowed, their attention comes and goes quickly and their head always seems to be down.

    Can he notice all that?

Quite so. Some of us do just not have it though...not sure why. Even today as I've mentioned I've gone a long way but yet I can only really mimic empathy, maybe that is empathy I don't know but it certainly doesn't feel legitimate.

Quick side question: Your brother have any sensory issues? To give you an example mine are mouth related. I can't eat certain textures, just not happening. Sloppy, formless, and/or inconsistent foods to be exact, so soup and chili are the best examples I can think of. Also certain sounds hurt my teeth. Even thinking of them causes them to hurt, thankfully not as much though.

sounds like you got a serious case of Idontknowwhatthehellyougoteriosis and you should just take all sorts of medicines and treatments until you finally become normal like all the other people who dont experience things like you do

I wonder what I have then, because I don't have the ability to have feelings like other people.
