Exclamation Just hit me! OBT/CBT why the need!?

Ok so I'm wondering what is the need for all this beta testing whenever we get new games. Most of all these games that come from overseas always need testing with us.

Why?? They already did all the beta testing overseas so why do we need to go through all this when we can play the game without the need of OBT/CBT etc. If it's something with servers that should be no reason to delay the game for so long. I just don't get it and hope someone will lighten me.

It's funny when a company says a game is in closed beta testing, then lets everyone in.

Transfers never goes smoothly, there hasnt been a game where bugs weren't found.

Its not that simple. You always get a old version of the game. Which is like a few content patches behind and bugfixes. Then you got the whole translation stuff. Which sometimes brings up issues. And the network/latency issues needs to be corrected. Server stress testing.

Eventhough some games do take their sweet time. Could be license issues that block fast releases. I agree that it could be speeded up alot of the times. Because certain games, lose their hype after a half year or so. But what you gonne do lol.

yeah, most of the beta testing is from translation. most of them are already polished. the smart ones also use this time to test the cash shop. like others said, it's also a marketing ploy.

bleh. that's why I hate playing translated games or ports. the community has no say in the direction of the game and if it does, it will take 6 months to get it. most of the players have already quit by then. often times, they just want to squeeze as much money from more players from a crappy game. i played a game last year where it was highly successful overseas but did rather poorly elsewhere because the game never adapted to the western market and listened to the community concerns.

For a lot of games, it's just for hype purposes.

This is why a lot of Open Betas just have cash shops and no wipes.

to be honest, they beta test to find big added during translation, typos in text, things broken during translation, etc etc. but most people don't actually do debugging. they play and complain the game is buggy on release.

i'm going more on rom translation but i figure in the end it's the same.

    This..

Most companies will give you free cash points to give you the feel of playing the game with benefits.. Aeria are kings at this and it seems to work well for them.

Other then that it's just a matter of making sure the servers can handle the load and making sure the translations are decent.
