As I've said in other threads relating to Aliens, this is my theory as to what will end up happening. We're to obsessed with aliens and alien invasions/contact for it not to happen, in my opinion. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be some kind of embedded ideal/goal for the collective humanity... to go out and find other life, help it grow in to 'maturity' (our own opinion of maturity, of course. It's our nature to know what's best).

Or we may take the Star Trek way, and become observers, waiting for the life-forms to come to maturity on their own and then welcome them to the Galactic community. Either way, I know we'll end up being there. Even if we end up planting the seeds of life ourselves.

But the point of the thread is to discuss the typical "What-if". That is, what if aliens find us first? And what will they say?
