Has anyone heard of Ryzom and can you answer a few questions?

Well, I found the game, I've never heard of it, but I a few times in the past wandered around on the internet and found that I had wound up on to the game's home page, so this time, I tried it because it looked cool. Why don't I see much talk about it?

Anyways, I read that it had gone F2P, but when I signed up, I got a 3 week free trial, but after that, I have to P2P. After I made my account, I downloaded the game and installed it, tried following all the steps and make it always allow me, I tried running it in fullscreen mode on my monitors resolution, on a low resolution, in windowed, with custom settings, high settings, low settings, logged in and tried many times, waited, and still, it will not run.

Every time, the screen just sits there and act like it's doing something, but when I click, the window turns black. Windows task manager says it's not responding. Why is it doing this? I just want to try it because it looks cool and lasts until October.

Also, I'm playing it on the abomination of mankind Windows Vista, so that might have something to do with it.

I remember playing Ryzom several years ago back when it first launched. The game was definetly unique and had a pretty cool trial. I never subscribed to the game (I'm not a fan of monthly subscriptions) but it was one of the more interesting MMORPGs I played.

I read about the recent changes the game has undergone, from my understanding its been passed from one publisher to another several times. The game started as P2P, swithced to F2P for a while and is now back to P2P with a free trial.

I'm not familiar with the technical problems you're having, can't be much help there, sorry.

Sounds like it's going through rough times.

I can't post on their forums unless I register for it. However, I can't register for a forum account unless I am logged into my game account. However, even IF I log into the main page, it still doesn't work on the forum page, so I guess I just can't ask there.

Well, I still can't get it to work. I tried uninstalling it, and I would re-install it, but the installer won't work because Vista is acting so slow with starting it up. I MUST have double clicked on it 15 minutes ago, and it still hasn't started, and the folder it's in is still frozen.

I guess this is just another precious game that I was once again so close to experiencing, but is still out of reach by just a few inches (and by a few inches, I mean a few actions and loading times). I guess I better keep on looking for a game.

Is there a game like Ryzom? Any games that aren't well known but are free or non-free and are great? I'm tired of hearing the game old suggestions. I don't want to try most of the games people suggest to me, and if I DO try to try them, I either can't handle the sheer grind and grind quests, have a hard time figuring out what to do, have a hard time with it in some other way, or I can't even get it to download, install, update, and run.

EDIT: I reinstalled it, but it still isn't working.
