I like Allods art style and skill/talent system more, but I hear that the crafting is bad. The skill/spell animations appeal to me more in Allods and some classes are unique to the game (like the Psiconist). Although I do like RoMs dual class system and there crafting is a bit better though I find it could be organized better.
Runes of Magic any day against Allods. Against any game maybe. Runes of Magic has a lot more content an a lot more original ideas than Allods and I think it's more stable and balanced than Allods.
Also take a look here. And here, to find out which is the best.
I've seen both before and the only reason RoM was higher than Allods is because it has more content from being out longer. Allods wasn't even released in the second video. I'm not saying RoM isn't good, in fact I might try it again, but comparing the games the way these videos are, through amount of content, clearly isn't fair since Allods is a newer release and has only just announced it's first major content update. I made this thread to hear what people who play have to think.
And I answered having played both games. I just put the vids as a bigger audience thought. And they are made from people that know a bit more about the games than "we", the players do. Also I know that in the 2nd vid Allods isn't in, I just posted it cause RoM is 1st
Don't listen to Esvio, hes obscenely biased when it comes to Runes of Magic. Basically, Allods is slow as hell and the stat distribution is quite bothersome, but is otherwise well thought out. RoM is a bit deeper, but I just can't find the fun in it. Killing 20 of the same creature multiple times is far too repetative for me. Also, it's very dependent on the spending of IRL money. Niether of them are that great imo. Actually, the only decent MMORPGs I can think of are P2P :/
I've read on a lot of forums that both games become cash oriented close to the end of the game. Some say RoM has more reasonable prices but can imbalance the game a bit, others say that Allods prices aren't to great and end game PVE becomes troublesome because of that debuff, fear of death or whatever. The only MMORPG that doesn't have any cash shop issues isEarth Eternal because you can get everything with in-game money and nothing gives you bonus stats and such. I really don't want to play Earth Eternal seeing how it's kind of kidish and a little empty early on.
Well don't just sit around and wait for it, it could be just as average as all the other MMOs out there :/
You should try Atlantica, Sword of the New World, or Aika. None of them have major flaws that I've found, and there isn't too much of a focus on IRL money in any of them. Though Aika is a bit bothersome early on.
