What mmorgp(s) are you looking forward to and why?
Between now and the end of next year we will have a lot of nice quality p2p and free to play games coming out. So what games are you looking forward to and why? Which games were you interested in but have since changed your mind, and what made you change your mind?
At one time I think my brain could have just melted from the number of amazing looking mmorpgs coming soon. Now I'm not so excited and rather disappointed as well. I am glad though that my list of mmorpgs I'm interested in has slimmed down considerably, my wallet agrees.
Vindictus looked really good from the videos I had seen but I was really disappointed to find out it's not really an MMORPG, it's just a lobby hack & slash. The destructible environments and being able to interact with objects during combat I think is something refreshing. Perhaps one day it will make its way into an actual mmorpg. I know you can hurl objects in those comic book mmorpgs but not like in Vindictus.
Tera I'm no longer interested in. It just seems like your typical mmorpg but with a crosshair. Same tired old archetypes. The graphics for this game are really nice. They are very polished and animations are impressive. I think the main draw to this is going to be pvp, and that's a recipe for disaster if you ask me. Forums will be flooded with complaints about inbalanced classes, nerfs will ensue, rinse and repeat then throw in some subscription cancellations and I think we'll see Tera become just another Aion.
Forsaken Worlds is a really nice looking game from what I've seen. It seems like a f2p that will do really well. I'll give it a shot especially since it's free. I haven't read too much about it but I'll keep an eye on it in the days to come.
FFXIV is a definate purchase for me unless my computer can't run it. I'll find out during open beta.
The Secret World could be interesting. I need to look into this one more.
SWTOR I will probably pass on, but who knows. I'll wait until it's released and see what people are saying.
If FFXIV doesn't work out for me I think I'm going back to either SWG of Fallen Earth. Probably Fallen Earth.
