There are loads of action in EVE, depending on what you want to do. It's Second Life in a sense that the possibilities are virtually endless. You can become a pirate (in-game, with the ships and all, of course) and steal ships, take players hostage, and other fun goodies, and all of it will not be against the rules of the gamePvP is also present, and ranges from 1v1 to small gangs against other gangs to large scale corporation vs corporation to massive wars.
The main reason why many people found EVE boring, IMO, is that they never figured out the game to a degree where they can actually do something.

Really good post, but I probably should of been a little more specific. I enjoy sandbox titles, I started out with Asheron's Call, then went to Ultima Online with a few friends. Played Darkfall a bit during beta and still occasionally fire up my retail on NA-1, beta'd Mortal Online, played Ryzom off and on since launch.
I just don't like EVE's autopilot feel, or the fact that the combat is so.. dull to me. I have many friends that enjoy it, but I the combat system does nothing for me, nor does the general feel of ship control. Very limited, very menu based.
I appreciate EVE for what it is, but I could never get past the ship control. Black Prophecy style ship control would of made EVE a completely different game, at least to me.
That would've probably been more of a hit-or-miss in 2003, if such controls are built into the game. The foundation of EVE is its economic system, not necessarily for the action aspect (which is why Jumpgate is there). But luckily, Jumpgate Evolution and Black Prophecy will hopefully launch soon :P
Epic heist! The question is, what would YOU do with $45,000 worth of in-game currency?
