    Default Originality in MMORPG's

Do you have this feeling too, that every MMORPG that is comming out recently,
only has the same gameplay. All the MMORPG's only involve killing some mobs, than a boss,...
The only difference about these MMORPG's are the themes and settings, maybe sometimes even the classes.
It only comes down to one thing, killing, killing, killing and pressing the 1, 2, 3 and so on buttons.
Some games skill tree is a bit different, but it still comes down to the same game, imo.
Tell me what you think about it.

I think its not the originality
    its the progression

    Diablo II isn't original
when I played Barbarian I just buff myself, pick concentration and do nothing but holding right click
it was fun because game keeps progressing eventaully... not like that sh*tty Battle of Immortals, game really progresses

    everygame is the same
    even RuneScape
in other MMORPGs you level up by killing mobs over and over again
in RuneScape you level up smithing by smithing over and over again

    there is no progression

Well, think of it this way. That's the meaning of a RPG. If you dislike it might as well sway away from it like Karuvatto. Not much you can change there until some genius creates a next generation system for RPGs which will then be mass produced by games in the future anyway and become unoriginal until the next, etc.

You're going to have to define progression, seeing when you level up I see that as progression of your character.

I dont mind it, its kinda what an mmorpg is. Or its the thing that makes it recognizable. Its how a mmorpg is built up.

Its like a song. Have you noticed that every song have a chorus? Or every Trance(techno) song have 4 by 4 beat?
Some people that does not like techno says its the same thing over and over again. But the genre is like that. If you just listen to the song for once you will notice that its not the same over and over again but has its own build up.

So an mmorpg is a rpg but its online with massive amount of people playing together like an online fantasy world... its not different from any other rpg game with than its online. So the thing with the classes, levling up. Upgrade, gear it. Get skills. Become stronger. Thats what an rpg is. And its what makes it recognizable.
