    Default Rift: Planes Of Telara

Anyone else applied for a beta-test? What do you expect about the game?

The coolest part about the game, I think, is that you can change your playstyle during gameplay. Like if you are a Rogue, you can go from Assassin to Ranger by a single switch. Also the Rifts itself look like an unique concept, except from dungeons, you'll have to encounter these monsters that are coming true some sort of a wormhole.

Intermezzo Question (If you might get accepted); What race would you pick & what class?
I personally dig the Eth or the Kelari of The Defiants.
As my class I would choose either a Mage or Rogue.

Applying for the beta test will likely result in not getting in until some of the very late phases. There's normal beta keys all over the place, but much like PW's Forsaken World, they don't even guarantee access. There are however VIP keys spread sparsely over the internet that do guarantee access, getting ahold of one is a task in itself.

Evidently this game is pretty popular, a mmo website was giving out VIP keys 100 at a time, they literally ran out in seconds. Pretty crazy, I've been waiting about 5+ hours with auto refresh on to get a chance at em, just happened to get one!

I did, but from the looks of it, it's gonna be like most CBT for P2P games where I NEVER get in.

The vip keys don't guarentee access, it just gives you a higher chance into getting in, I know this because
    1. I don't have an e-mail yet.
    2. I read about them on the rift site and on mmosite

VIP does in fact guarantee access to all events starting Dec. 3rd onward. The normal beta keys are the ones that do not, but they do however give you a "better chance" supposedly.

    What’s a VIP Beta Key?

VIP Beta Keys grant you access to ALL beta events.

    From my account:

    Community Beta ***************kcxf 10-06-2010
    RIFT_VIP_BetaKey1 ***************gwtn 11-30-2010

Difference between the beta keys is one is VIP and one is simply a community beta key.

Game looks cool, but it's not free to play. I don't think they'll be able to succeed as a pay to play game in a world with many great Free to play games. The pay to play market is DOMINATED by WoW.

Well, a game doesn't have to have 8 million subscribers to be considered successful. Not so sure yet if they have what it takes to be a profitable P2P game but from the information i've been gathering about it, it's a little cookie cutter but it's not too bad.

I hope they have decent payment options and I hope it isn't gonna be demanding of my computer.

Watch it be subscription only and be unplayable because the awesome graphics are too much for my crap computer, but it would be a nice surprise to find I can actually easily pay it and play it.

UPDATE: Whoa. I'm not sure, but I just checked my mail to be on the safe side; I got into the beta event this weekend. I'm downloading the game right now!

It's a good chance to see what the game is like and see if my computer can handle it...and you know...help find bugs.
