What I am saying is that the player base as a whole is getting sick of them. If you look on the request forum, Most people are asking for one where you do not just click around. They want AMMORPGs. This isn't everyone's opinion, but the target audience for MMORPGs are not asking for more point and clicks.
I also thought this topic was about WASD vs. point-to-click movement in MMOs. lol. It should've been named "targeted vs. non-targeted" or something.
But back on topic... for all I know, non-targeted AMMORPGs could be the flavor of the year. They've been gaining momentum for some time. I think that just comes from people looking for something completely new to play combined with the new innovations companies are creating for the AMMORPG genre. Also, there are hybrids out there. Only time will tell if it sticks.
I've jumped on the bandwagon myself. Personally, I'm a bit burned out at the moment with targeted MMOs. I probably have been for quite some time. But I don't think it will ever go away. It's been around long before WoW, and for better or for worse it will exist for many years to come. But that won't stop me from playing Mythos.
When I say point and click I am practically referring to movement and combat. Combat in a point and click would be *click monster, press spell hotkey, press it again, press another, win*, when the action MMORPGs are more like streetfighter where you press a button for each attack, and combos can usually be formed.
I did like the Elder Scrolls series so maybe I could get used to action oriented gameplay, but I'd almost prefer a 1st person view like Morrowind/Oblivion had as default.
I think people like the OP are really bored of the current MMOs and seeing Action-MMOs as a savior like its going to bring some new never seen heard or thought of experience WOW all over again...
