Ether Saga was always free to play, yeah. But I don't think it is a very good game. Unless they solved the 4S problem with the update I'm not gonna try it.

This summarizes all games that play like this:
1. Get a quest "Kill Monster A 50 times"
2. Go to local spawn location of Monster A.
3. Just keep spaming skills on the monsters spawning around you until you have killed 50 of them without having to walk.
4. Turn in the quest and get the next.
