I've supported many F2P Games by buying Item Mall items.
Angels Online = 200 or so USD in Total
Perfect World International = 360 or so USD in Total (180 USD Alone for the Hercules Pet)
Grand Fantasia = About 160 USD in Total
Kitsu Saga = About 210 USD in Total
Ether Saga Online = 160 USD in Total
Games that use temporary items for almost everything do not get my support (Fiesta, etc.) Games that monetize over lack of in-game feature also do not get my support, depending on said feature. (IE: Insta-heal pots in Asda are only from Item Mall. Or an item that saves you from PK'ing.)
I also like CABAL's approach to a "premium" service. They allow you to purchase a "Premium" Buff that gives you +200% EXP, +200% Rare Item Drops, Access to Premium Channels, +200% Money Drop, and more for X Days (Up to 90.)
Only plays Magic DPS Classes, Healers and Machinist/Engineers.

I like games like LOTRO, they give you the option to buy the expansions, but if youre willing to farm alot, you can also get it for free. Imo cash shops should be there for xp/drop rate increasements, faster mounts and cosmetic clothing, nothing that would imbalance the game
More games should do it like League of Legends or generally FPS-games, where everything can be purchased with both ingame money and irl money either through AH or special ingame currency shops.
Reputation: 10As long as they make good high quality games that aren't super dependent on cash shop (I'm looking at you PWE) then i support the industry full on
LOL. But atleast it entertains you to buy stuff at cash shops of F2P games.
Same for me.![]()

Reputation: 10This is a good topic. I think there are many ways to support free MMO games:
- Buying stuff from their cash shop, this is the standard way, not everyone can afford it but fortunately you are not obliged to either;
- Inviting friends and acquaintances to play the game with you. It's easier to convince a friend to play estating that the experience is free;
- Recommending the game in forums, social networks, blogs. But give some appetizer, mentioning the strong and unique features in the game instead of just "this is the best game ever";
- Being nice towards newbie players, because griefing other people as "N00b" just serve to discourage those to keep playing, which lowers player base, which slowly kills the game;
- If you have complaints about the game, use the proper forum section provided by the developer and be reasonable instead of using depreciative terms like "this game s..ks!
- Make a good gameplay video of your favorite game and publish it on YouTube, but please don't use Drowning Pool music and such as BGM because everyone is already sick of it and it scares away other people (no kidding!)
- Comments like "Game A is better than Game B" or "Game A is a Game B clone" if you never actually played the game are just as useful as trying to snipe at long range with a shotgun (playing 3 minutes of the tutorial and quitting doesn't mean something either). Don't do it, because it is just annoying and useless;
- In fact you can support a F2P game just by playing it because the majority of players never use the cash shop, yet the game may still be profitable, because of a strong and warm-welcoming community.
P.S.: If you don't like F2P games, you are in the wrong site. This is MMOHut.com, read the headline!

Ragnarok Online - $50 to $100 to buy exp and drop mod (way of gaining levels and gold faster)
RF Online - Almost $100 to buy high end armors and weapons. If you wanna acquire it yourself, you're "doomed" LOL
Cardmon Hero - $50 to buy cash mercenary cards and fashion outfit.
Dragonica - $150 to buy lots of upgrade insurances. not worth it at all![]()
