Hey! I just started RO myself. What server do you play in?

Reputation: 10Haha seems so little to add after Rya's info, though some small things to add, try to maximize your stat benefits. Your stat points are limited and very precious lol. For example, your main damage boosts from str come in increments of 10, so best to keep it in multiples of 10. Same with dex. Luk raises 1 crit every 3 luk, so if you go crit, keep it in multiples of 3 so you dont waste stat points. Remember, those increments also include any +stat items you have.
Grimtooth build... Oh how I hate it... Nothing blows more than running around mobbing with a friend only to have some jackass assassin stroll along and killsteal your mob that you so painstakingly gathered. If you choose that build, try not to join the a-hole division. I don't buff assassins out of policy since they tend to annoy the hell out of me.
Also, for lowbies, payon caves is a nice spot to find people to party with. Though atm I'm assuming youre either on the official server or a server with rates close to it.
Reputation: 10I am on the official servers atmI'm on Valkyrie atm and my ID is: PhuckEwe
=D
Aw, I'm on Yggdrasil. Well, I didn't get very far anyway. I'll just reroll, lol.
Reputation: 10Like any game, try find some people to play with. RO is a pretty heavily oriented party game, throughout the entire game's levels.
Rya's pretty knowledgeable for the game, so take note of what s/he says.
But what I'd recommend for Assassin, is don't do the grimtooth build. Or even get it~ It consumes too much SP/MP for little worth; When solo'ing the mobs quickly spread and then you have to regroup them. The more enemies attacking you, the higher chance you'll get hit.
You'll want Sonic Blow, as that will be your main move for a while. It's pretty good, too.
Critical Build (Luk) has been noted to be good, but personally I don't recommend it for a starter. What I did when I started as an Assassin was get 40 Str, 99 Agi, 30 Vit, 50 Dex.
Assassin is all about the Agility and quick speedy attacks. Agility raises your attack speed, and Katars are the fastest weapon in the game. Agility also makes your animation go faster for skills, too. So someone with 1 Agility who uses Sonic Blow will wait, say - 3 seconds, in comparison to someone with 99 Agility who waits 2 seconds.
Agility is your main stat. Dex is your second. Str is your third.
If you do decide to go criticals, you'll be sacraficing either Dex or Str.
Like a poster said above, the game's stats work in increments of 10. So don't get 40 Str exactly, when you get about 34 Str, look at your attack and then add Str - Each str adds about +1 more attack; When you hit that magic 10, it jumps up an extra 10 or so damage. So you may be on 36 Str and it'll jump; So going to 40 Str would be pointless.
The + on the end of a stat is quite literal. 20 + 2 will equal 22.
So if you jumped an extra attack at say, Str 36 - It means your extra stat is +4 (36+4), sometimes the game doesn't count *exactly* in 10's as well. Sometimes you may need 41 or so.
Items have slots too, and cards drop at a low rate (0.01% default), which you can add onto your items.
Assassin is a class that solo's best, but also has a little less value in a party compared to some other classes. It's not as valuable as a Knight, Crusader, Priest or Bard/Dancer - They're one of the minor classes. Along with Merchant, Blacksmith, etc.
Your job is DPS though, damage per second. Assassin's also move faster than any other class naturally, so if you want, you can round up nearby enemies to your team.
Since you're playing iRO, savor every item you get that has additional stats on it. They will come handy.
For some things we havn't mentioned, you'll learn naturally by exploring around and learning the game. Such as where to level up - If you die too much, or get hurt/hit too much, then you need to go to a different area.
Huh? In Renewal the Grimtooth build is the only viable for leveling (even if you can one-hit killing them with Sonic Blow, it will still take much longer than killing >20 at once with triple Grimtooth). Not to mention that it's the most fun one. :3
It doesn't matter, though, as you can get both skills maxed if you go for full Katar build.
Also those bonuses at certain increments were also removed in renewal as far as I know.
And 40 STR only is kinda fail... what does attack speed and high accuracy help you if you only deal 400 damage per hit if you could deal 800? Besides in PVP it's important that you can one-hit kill your enemy with Sonic Blow, for this you'll need lots of STR (of course you also need DEX to not miss).
If you don't believe me use a damage calculator.
You get the highest damage per second output if you raise STR and AGI equally. DEX/LUK in such a way that your hit rate is >80%. Well iROwiki already lists the most viable stat ranges. In other words, never ever lower than 60, better 80 or more.
Assassin - IRO Wiki
If you don't care about PVP then the build listed under "AGI Battle/ Riff Support" is most party-friendly, but the "Battle" build works well too, except for the lack of INT.
The great thing about RO is that you can really make your individual build as long as you keep in mind which stat is good for what.
For Bard:
STR - only needed for weight increase (you can carry more arrows and potions)
AGI - increases attack speed, dodge rate and raises the "Impressive Riff" power (this song increases the attack speed of all people close to you)
VIT - increases your HP/Defense and effectiveness of Song of Lutie (increases max HP, only really needed in very few occasions)
INT - increases SP and SP recovery speed, also increases effectiveness of Magic Strings (decreases cast time and cooldown, most useful party skill of bard)
DEX - increases damage, accuracy and effectiveness of Magic Strings (most important stat for Bard no matter what build)
LUK - increases all kinds of things very little and the effectiveness Perfect Tablature, nobody really gets this skill though (Magic Strings much more important), no reason to raise it as Bard
Reputation: 10Hmmm I will try to make a mix with dex and int, with a little of agi =D
Don't get too much INT, if you look at the guides you will see that at max you should get 40 INT with all bonuses and that's pretty much enough. DEX can never be wrong, but you should decide between either high AGI (see Riff Support build) so your defense comes from dodging or medium AGI for attack speed only and high VIT for defense (see other two builds).
PVP is kind of epic in its own way. But PVP is only endgame so if you start playing it only becaues you want to do PVP you'll get tired of it before you even reach it. PVP is basically something for the really experienced players that have been playing for at least a year. I guess that's why it's so epic too. You'll always be looking up to those experience player until you are one yourself.
There is hardly any partying in renewal at all because you can easily solo monsters of your level and killing monsters above your level won't give you any exp. That's the main reason why I avoid renewal and play on close-to-official pre-renewal PServers now. The only reason why people party up in renewal is because: 1. They are good friends and don't care about fast exp 2. For MVP hunting 3. For WoE.
Changes to the party system itself:
- 10% more exp per party member (together with 25% combo bonus you can get 35% more exp per additional party member now, instead of just the 25%)
- level gap for exp share is now 15 instead of 10
- exp penalties are applied per character not per party, so even on even share not everyone will get the same exp
Reputation: 10there are many guides in the net you could browse them if you want or go to irowiki.![]()
Reputation: 10Talk about an epic fail of an update... It's essentially killed one of the best elements of RO.
Yep, although I really hated the those "instant kill" monsters before renewal, especially in the New World. Seems Gravity can't really handle the difficulty well. First they make monsters have an attack power >10000 so they can pretty much one-hit kill all classes and you can pretty much only survive by exploiting some broken mechanism of the game and then they made them so easy that they will only take <10% of your max HP per hit.
The only thing Gravity should change with renewal is to only give an exp penalty if you are above the monster's level but not if you are below and then they should pretty much increase attack power and exp by x% of all monsters where x is equal to monster's level (so it stays easy early on but gets gradually harder).
The best answer for Solo-ing: Agi build plus BOT. LOL.
