The man took-down crocodiles and was only afraid of cock-a-too's(spelling?), but was killed by a stingray, what a way to go. I didn't read the whole article, did they mention a specific species of ray?

Reputation: 10what a way to go....I mean, wow. you would think with all the snakes, crocodiles, sharks, and other deadly things....but a stingray? I've seen video of him with stingrays before, so he did know about how to handle them. wierd, you just can't tell when a wild animal might be lethal I guess.
Also for those that dont know. stingrays have a barb on thier tails that has a poison in it. even if it hits a non-vital place, it can still be life threatning but to be hit in the chest is almost instantly fatal. stingrays usually dont attack unless you threaten them, or they percieve a threat. he must have just gotten really unlucky.

how terribly sad
Oi, Sting Rays are dangerous.
A untreated sting on a general part of your body is deadly already, because those stingers inject a powerful venom.
But to have it go into your cheast, thats really bad. Thats where your heart is, and it will pump all that venom throughout your body faster then you can be saved.
Reputation: 131I know its sting is venemous, as well as an anti-coagulant I think; but I was wondering as to the specific species, because I'm fairly certain there are multiple species of stingray.
Quick note, I just merged the two topics together.
Makes it easier to discuss.
Anyway, I need sleep, will do more talking tomorow.
I never really watched his show very much but I feel sorry for his wife and kids. RIP Steve!
