I played MNC pretty much since it's release (on XBLA), and I really had a ton of fun with it. It felt like a MOBA game, but at the same time, it did have some aspect of the better know "twitch" shooters like Unreal Tournament and Quake, while featuring the class system we know from Team Fortress 2.
There is alot of humour worked into the game, and there really are various ways to reach your goal, the endorsement system really helps personalize your favorite classes in the ways you like most, with the ability to save several custom classes, and be able to switch on the fly, giving you different stats to help you through your game.
Small skirmishes are always fun, hectic and depending on who you play and play against generally just fun. It was always possible to kill someone in a good dog out and proper use of skills really helped that feel along the way.
But in SMNC (yes, I am in the closed beta), you gain so much more health, and it simply isn't possible anymore to dog it out 1v1, because there is no proper way anymore to burst someone down. You can now also purchase defensive stats (unlike your class passive anymore that would enhance you), granting you more defense and health for example. Now I like that it promotes teamplay more (because this is what MOBAs are all about), but in MOBAs with proper playing you'd still be able to actually dual someone in a decent amount of time and have a winner after 3-5 seconds.
However, assuming both players are of similar skill level and know how to properly play the game, such duels will last easily around 15-20 seconds! Seeing how games like these are made for quick fights, map control and skirmishes, this take alot of speed out of the game, when you stop and try to deal with your opponents. It means that pushing lanes becomes extremely mandatory, because trying to kill your opponents to free up lanes for your bots more, because extremely hard, even for the Assassin class, who thrives on killing opponents and then pushing their lanes is pretty much now reduced to trying to kill as much bots and ignore her opponents in order to keep a lane properly pushed.
I realize these are the early stages of the beta, but I really deeply miss the faster paced gameplay from MNC.
