Default The trickery of the modern MMORPG..a rant.

Okay, so let me be honest hear for a moment. If you don't want to here a nice rant, then stop reading. That's my warning to you all, so don't get upset or offended with what I am about to say.

You're still reading - GREAT. So, let's get down and dirty with my rant. Take a moment and think about the vast majority of free to play MMO's that have hit the market here lately..are any of them truly worth your time and effort?

Seriously, today's standards for a "good" MMORPG are useless. Most of these games are all fabricated under the same model, which is:

    +Level Up
+Do Fetch Quests [That have very little story line - if any]
    +Grind
    +Level Up Again

    Repeat until max level.

Then force players to buy into the cash shop or else they will not be good enough to compete with other players.

And for the purpose of validating my point, let me tell you that I'm not arguing the fact that these companies need to make money somewhere. I have money to spend, and I would like to buy into their f2p market games, however these schemes are ridiculous.

There is a thin line between buying items and buying power. This concept of "buying power" is exactly what is ruining the traditional MMORPG.

Here lately, I could not tell you an MMO that has been released that I would even consider wasting my time with.

And the same goes for P2P MMO's - they have their flaws now also. However, because no one wants to read a mile long post.. I'll save it for another day.

The fact of the matter is that the MMORPG market needs a revolution.. a turn around..an awakening.

The more of these so called "MMORPGS" are released every month under new names .. the more flawed the mmorpg game industry will become.

As the player, we should demand quality games. These games are stream lined, and are just plain awful. They don't deserve to be called MMORPG.

..Okay am going to end my post here, as I know people will get tired of reading. If you want to argue my rant, please respond with well-thought-out replies.

I don't mind a nice debate, just don't reply with nonsense.

This is the complains with MMO's for so long. Stat-based cash shop is straight up bs, indeed. At least they are learning lately. They are either going freemium or going with a model like League of Legends, where you can only buy boosts and skins. Boosts aren't that gamebreaking, though. Most are even fixing their cash shop after numerous complains, for instance Allods. The western free to play market is really picking up to this lately.

Don't Compete then and actually just enjoy the scenery and community system? Help others?

Not everything has to be about killing others. Helping others while max level is part of an MMORPG's community. yet people say, "I'm too lazy," or "They should do it themselves." If you do these, you're basically anti-social, even if you do other social activities like guild chat, etc.

Only plays Magic DPS Classes, Healers and Machinist/Engineers.
    Playing MMO: FFXIV (Balmung)
Waiting On: FFXV, KH3, Tree of Savior, RE:FFVII · Saving For: New Computer
