Default Good ol' Intel VS. AMD

So I was checking whats up in the business of PC's setups and wow...You can get a monster system with i7 Six core for only HOLY ****...So I was thinking here is really spending 700Pound on a Six core CPU worth it or just spend 200 on a Eight core Bulldozer It doesn't really impress by the chaches and stuff, but it has 2 more cores so could imagine it being better than six... xD

Yeah don't ask why such a monster...You have yet to hear what GPU I'm getting... xD

Even quad core is more then enough. I don't really know what extra's AMD their CPU's bring in regards to Intel, but as said, 4 more then enough. Even on AMD.

According to a lot of notes, the quads are even more useful then a lot of the newer AMD CPU's. Even tho they keep holding overclock record.

On the other hand, Intel CPU quads tend to be more friendly to newer users (again, from what I gathered).

AMD 8-cores are officially compaired to Intel i-5.
By officially i mean AMD said that.
They can't compete with i-7 processors as they stated.
But now they united with ARM so we may see new generation of processors for AMD-ARM

The thing is I am thinking about a Laptop so I can game when I'm not home or just have my PC with me...But then again I want a monster PC to last years and a pretty decent monitor aswell...But that is where I think If I do not aim for a monster I could be just as good with a proper laptop...I mean modern laptops can run games on pretty decent settings and they aren't all that big or something...

You are going to laugh I'm looking at Alienware M14x (720p Res or 900p Hmm) xD Was looking at 11, but is has GDDR 3 video slot...So with all shit include me satisfying and over the top stupidity it would cost 1500 few months back I was looking at 700 price tag limit, but as the money flows it just increases... xD Technicly I got 700 to spend at the moment well I got way over 1k ,but I need a lot for the 3 weeks off Yay I need to rest go back to Latvia and have fun, if you know what I mean...

P.S. I saw some 10,000 RPM Hard drives, WTH? Aren't they supposed to be dangerous and isn't breaking point of a HDD just above the "fast" 7200RPM drives?

P.S.S. Well if AMD is really compared to Intel's i5 I guess Intel All the way...

I am pretty sure any laptop that costs 1.5k quid and isn't Alienware will be able to run any game on max settings.

I did think that to, but When you check the specs it's about the same and/or even more expensive when you buy a different kind of laptops. Problem is there are no good 15inch laptops the ones that are good and cheap asus and others are all to big 16 and 17...then yes alienware is overpriced ,but there are no competition at 14inch ex 15 for alienware...

The Intel i7 hexcores actually has 12 threads due to hyperthreading. While the Bulldozer uses actual pipelines, just think of the FX8000 series as quadcores with hyperthreading rather than the simulated sort Intel uses (both are somewhat gimmicky, but AMD's method does seem better design-wise). With that said, the Bulldozer series are essentially consumer versions of AMD's server lineup, and their uses are kinda limited in that regard (though they're quite good at calculations and stuff for compression and stuff for various reasons). If you just want a general gaming rig, just grab an i5, they're just better for more stuff, though the 8000 series aren't a bad buy for the price if you do decide to go that route.

But on topic: No, the Bulldozer FX8150 can't match up to the i7 3930K.
