Seems neat. Anyone ever try this?

Reputation: 10Oooh, I remember this game. Really fun if you like Ultima. The population is pretty damn low though, that's what made me quit. Going to try it again anyway.
Reputation: 10Yeah the population is quite low, but I found out that only like 10.000 people have tried the game so far or even less - you can see that by looking at their character number. Yeah probably it's much lower considering some players have multiple accounts. 8000-9000 people is NOTHING compared to the whole population of mmo-players. Ok, Linkrealms is obviously a game for a small niche, but still if you just count old UO players I think there are hundred thousands. The game lacks advertising... But it's very hard for a indie team with no money to do advertise I guess!
I did play it a long time ago and actually managed to party with the devs for a few dungeon runs. To be honest if it wasn't for the fact that they suddenly appeared on my map to talk to me I would have quit after 15 mins; I had no idea what to do and there was no one around to talk to. The community is incredibly small, but very friendly, yet finding someone is troublesome depending on the hours in which you login.
The devs are great guys willing to play and receive feedback directly from players. The game's interesting and fun, but it has somewhat of weird skill and stat system... not quite like UO but it does have a similar feeling, at least dungeons feel the same.
Reputation: 15Yeah, I played it for 5-10 min. and quit. It wasn't pleasing to me. If you look at the screens its dark and dreary. UO is brighter. The biggest thing that got in the way is that its too complicated for new players. The new player experience is terrible and that doesn't help growth. Its graphics looks bad and UI clunky. I would rather play one of the UO free shards than this.
Reputation: 10Well currently population is still very low but not so much that you can't find anyone around... And the devs have a pretty amazing relationship with players, yes
Anyway, the weird skill and stat systems you mentioned have been changed, now there are a global skill cap and a global stat cap, more classic and imho better working.
Reputation: 882i never got into this game either, i think every game should atleast have some pointers or tutorial to get you going and get a sense of direction, even if its a sandbox game. also i was aproached by the devs the second i joined the game which is nice, but uncalled for. if i enter some game i like to figure things out myself at first before getting stalked by other people lol.

Reputation: 10Yeah he was probably a guide. Guides are players with special powers (like seeing when a new player joins the game and teleport to him) that spend quite some time helping newcomers. They're just normal players, but they are often misunderstood for Game Masters or even Developers... :/
