Default What are some good 2012 movies?

What are some good movies (released on DVD/Blu-ray) to watch? Preferably within the last 3 months, and action/comedy... oriental movies are a plus. No nudity, please.

I'm looking at these, but I'm not too keen on them:

    • The Hunter
    • God Bless America
    • Lockout
    • The Journey 2
    • 21 Jump Street
    • The Grey
    • The Other Guys
    • A Thousand Words

http://www.moviefone.com/dvd?icid=cshub_nav has a ton of movies that I have never seen advertised on TV (i'm sure there's a term for it). The first three listed above are one of those.

    Recent movie watched:
    The Hunger Games
    The Three Musketeers
    John Carter
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (didn't know about the 2 **** scenes, k?)

(I don't actually go and "buy" the movies *wink wink*)

I don't pay attention to movies too much but I really loved seeing The Avengers in 3D. I also heard The Raven is really good, and isn't a punch in the **** to Edgar Allan Poe like most movie adaptions of his stories. The Amazing Spider-Man is amazing. Andrew Garfield is a waaaaay better Spider-Man than Toby Mcguire.

Most movies coming out nowadays are super hero movies trying to milk the popularity, terrible and cheap comedies, fairy tale adaptions or straight-to-dvd quality remakes/sequels of older movies.

That "The Tall Man" movie, clearly based on Slender Man, looks like it could be interesting. Just because I kinda like Slender Man lol

I kinda didn't make it clear, but this was for DVD/Blu-ray releases ^^; But yeah, I'm definitely gonna try to watch The Avengers!

I watched The Cabin in the Woods yesterday, that's definitely worth a watch. Not what I expected at all.

God Bless America, if you haven't seen it, is one of the best movies I've ever seen lol.
John Carter (finally complete after 20 years) is out. Many people say that it's copying Avatar, but actually The Princess of Mars (the stories that John Carter is based off of) are 100 years old and were a major inspiration on the story of Avatar. Regardless, if you liked Avatar, you'll probably like John Carter.
A ton of people liked The Immortals, even though it barely focuses on the Immortals and is an absolutely terrible and hollywoodized representation of the story that it's based on, to the point that it can barely even be called the same story (like most of those 300-style movies).
What anime are your avatar and signature from?

^ Action AND OR comedy. Not necessarily a combination of both.

Thanks for recommending The Raid: Redemption, but it had too many F-bombs and was too violent for the other viewer (it's not just me watching). I didn't know the representation would be that distasteful to her, even though she enjoys gunfights here and there. The fight scenes were admirable. :3

I hope Lockout's violence level isn't as identical; similar plot, though.
