Default Dark Souls PC – Confirmed Facts – 30FPS Lock, Internal Resolution Locked To 1024×720

    http://www.dsogaming.com/news/dark-s...d-to-1024x720/

Before starting, let us tell you this: we don’t like bringing you bad news. Hell, we are PC gamers and we love to have each and every day good news for all PC gamers. However, when we say something is bad, it obviously is. And no, we do not make up stories for hits. Now some of you may be wondering why we are starting this news story this way. Well, the reason is obvious. A couple of months ago, we were criticized for our Dark Souls story. People started yelling that we were lying and such, beautiful and wonderful things. Fast forward a couple of months and here we are today, bringing you solid facts about the PC version of Dark Souls.

It has been confirmed from the preview codes of Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition that the PC version is locked at 30fps. Yes yes, the one thing we claimed back in June. Not only that, but the internal resolution is locked to 1024×720.

What’s funny here, is that the output resolution can go up to 1080p, however the game will be rendered at 1024×720. Imagine it as upscaling a low-res image to 1080p. The big issue here is that the entire renderer is locked. Obviously, this is completely different than having lower resolution textures in a game that can be natively run at 1080p. It’s funny how this console lock feature was included in the PC version. But then again, we told you that this port would be awful.

Unfortunately, this is the real deal behind the PC version of Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition. Yes, we want to love Dark Souls and we appreciate FromSoftware’s attempts (and will definitely give this game a go), however we strongly believe that another studio should had handled the porting job. At least that way, we wouldn’t be facing such idiotic issues!

Oh well , im happy they at least are releasing it on PC ...

2012 and games are still rocking 1024×720 internal res that's sad.You can prob get around the 30fps lock but the internal res is the real killer.Oh well I'm glad I finished it on the PS3.

Cant imagine 1024×720 upscaled to 1920x1080 that's gonna suck.

gfwl AND a crappy port. from made one of the best games of all time yet they don't bother porting it properly? aigoo.
what's the problem with fps lock, though? it didn't run higher than 30 on ps3, and it was flawless.

Hi guys, can we not outright say, "Derp, the game is a crappy port so I'm gonna pirate it and tell everyone I'm gonna pirate it because pirating crappy ports is clearly the best thing to do"?

All your really doing is telling the developers that yeah, the FPS lock and all that sucks, but you're going to play the game anyway.
