Default How much would this cost me

I already have a case, optical drives, and hard drive.

I need to buy a new motherboard, ram, CPU and whatnot. I already have 2 fans as well but I'm not sure if they're compatible. How much would that cost me?

i7 CPU (one that will last me a while)
    4 GB of Ram
Motherboard that will be able to handle i7 and 4gb of ram.

the graphic card I have is Nvidia GT 240

I would go with an i5 over an i7, mostly because you don't need hyper-threading for gaming and it would be cheaper. Unless you plan on doing multiple CPU intensive things at once.
You can get 8gb of DDR3 RAM for more or less the same price of 4gb, also.

For the i7, 4gb of RAM and a motherboard: probably around $450-475.

This is what I would go with, myself.
For a good i5, 8gb of RAM and the same motherboard: around $380-400.

Edit: I haven't really used Tigerdirect so I actually looked at newegg.com (also newegg.ca)
If you'd rather I look on there I can as well, but I imagine there won't be a price difference.

Any particular reason you need an i7 instead of an i5 and only 4GBs of RAM?

I should update this but all my effort went into writing this lousy excuse.

Heres the thing. Guild Wars 2 Lags like crap in WvW.

I'm just really tired of upgrading every 5-6 months. I want a computer that will last me a while. So no particular reason that I want i7 over i5. I'll get an i5 then.

Secondly, I want a good motherboard, because I hate having to upgrade EVERYTHING because my motherboard isnt compatible with an upcoming graphics card or something.

    __________

yup newegg.ca and tigerdirect.ca dont really have a price difference.

That is what I would go with. You won't have to upgrade that Motherboard for a long time (plus ASUS motherboards are awesome quality), especially since it has pci-e 3.0 and 3.0 is just starting to get used by high end GPUs like the 600 series GTX's. The total is just under $400 (not including shipping).

If the thing is Guild Wars lagging like crap then 8gb of RAM is a must, RAM is very important in having to pre-load large amounts of players.

Last question. Does newegg actually have real boxing day sales (by that I mean they actually reduce the price, not put 50% off but the price is actually not reduced). I might wait till boxing day to get a case and everything too.

I have a i5 and 4 gigs of ram with a 2 year old gpu, ran guild wars 2 on max in WVW at 40 fps stable.. You'll be better off going i5 route and save your self a couple hundred dollars.

I honestly don't know what boxing day is lol.

The only major difference is that the first one only has PCI-E slots and no regular PCI slots, while the second and third also have 3 PCI slots. Other than that they are all pretty much the same other than the arrangement of the ports on the back panel,

*though I noticed the first two are both actually Micro-ATX as well (even though they say ATX in the title), while the third one on the list is full ATX size.

    Thanks guys + rep.

My DVD drives and hard drive should fit regardless of motherboard right? same goes for fans and power supply?
    _____

Also, if I am looking for a new case, are there any things im limited to?

As long as the DVD and HDD are SATA (as opposed to IDE) they'll be fine. You won't have a problem with the power supply, but as far as fans go that really depends on the case. There are many cases that come fully equipped with fans and others that have extra empty fan spaces, it depends on what measurement the fan is and what measurement the fan space on the case is.

To be safe (everything having enough room) stick to either an ATX mid tower or ATX full tower case.

Apparently your inbox is full so I can't reply to your PM

    Here's what I said anyways,

"The only reason I would say no is if you planned on SLI'ing multiple GPUs, since it only has a single pci-e 3.0 slot. Other than that it's good, everything should last several generations of upgrades. It's actually an amazing deal too, that i5 3570k is the highest benchmarking CPU in the whole i5 series and worth $270ish on it's own."
