I noticed the trailer and small blog about it from mmorpg.com. The game isn't that great though.. I mean.. Come on.. It's going to go F2P sooner than later with NCSoft NA because they are so ofdkeifjiehfjw successful with their F2P changes to games. L2, Aion, and next up will be BNS.. Either way, BNS is coming up next, most likely starting beta in early 2013 I bet, with a Summer launch.
The good thing, though, is that NCSoft KR really loves NCSoft NA because of how successful they are. We're getting Aion 3.5 next month, and it released in KR only a month ago, or is soon. I think we'll get it before Russians. ^^
Nice! Love this game.
Holy shiet, that cover image. Right in the face.
I'll be waiting for this game to go F2P, and it will go F2P sooner than later. This game doesn't have much going for it, and the combat system is clunkier than GW2. They're better off making the game F2P with Cash Shop right off the bat, but I doubt they will want to do that just yet.
Reputation: 26You've played this, right? If not, how can you tell it's combat is clunky? If yes, why was it clunky for you? I've personally played this and didn't feel this "clunk" you speak of.
Also, if I remembered correctly, there's not much this game could offer in a cash shop based system, don't get me wrong, it would make them a lot more money if they decided on F2P CS based but I don't see how it would work out. There's not much they could offer in a cash shop. If my memory recalls, the armor(Stats are done mostly through auto-stat and a strange pi-chart crest system) of this game only hold minimal defense changes and is mainly for looks, rather than actually armor uses. Certain armors will give you advantages with different factions, so on, so forth.
Also, explain to me how you can absolutely say it will go F2P, Blade and Soul is doing amazingly as a P2P in Korea. Granted, it hasn't been out THAT long in KR, the sales are making them a very nice profit.
I'm not starting a war with you, rather, I'd like you to back up what you can say.
Herra hyped for this one, played a little bit of the korean version and fell in love, wonder when theyre going to start the application process though
And how is GW2s combat clunky?
PSN--Solidai
I have played it. The combat is clunky mostly because of the way skills chain. It isn't instant. It takes some time, and thats not because of lag. It's because that's the way the system was built. It was built similarly to Aion. You use a skill, and it chains to the second 1 a second later. It's so clunky, especially when you PVP. Why can't there be an actually fast paced action game?
Also, it's not truly Action. The game has no reticle, and you basically end up having the skill auto hit someone if they're close enough to you.
They should've put more time into the combat system. It was clearly rushed. :X Did you know that BNS was a Point and Click MMO in Alpha? They barely changed it when it left Alpha. That's why it has those crappy Point and Click aspects, which seem even slower than a Point and Click because they're designed to be different..
I love the artstyle of this game.

Are you really sure about that? I also had a chance to play during CBT2 and I had no issue chaining my attacks, and from what I've seen from CBT3 to Official Launch, the gameplay is very smooth and technical. Some of the attacks available aren't instant, yes, but that's because they're meant to be used after a particular set up or stun. Yes, the game didn't originally have a a targeting reticule during CBT1, but it does now, and you DO need to aim your attacks because there are hitboxes involved. The only attacks I've seen where you don't have to aim is with Assassian's throwing stars and Summoner's homing butterflies, because they do very weak damage and their only purpose is to build meter. Regardless if it's "True action" or not, it was still fairly engaging and didn't feel like a typical tab-targetting MMORPG in any regard.
And regarding the game's pacing: This doesn't look fast paced to you?
The way that combat is structured, it looks and plays like a 3rd person fighting game, complete with super moves and meter management. While group PvP does look clunky (because there's no way they'd be able to get animations to blend with multiple character interactions at a time), this game is going to be amazing for 1 on 1 PvP

Hey Ya!
It's pay to play, and is even like $17 or $18 a month in Korea.. The game is not worth the price.
@Mikedot That's not that fast.. It's also clunky as hell. I don't know about you, but an action game is made to encourage reactions, dodging, etc. This game has very little of that. It's all just running around spamming skills. I can compare this to TERA in the means that it actually takes skill to play. This is a clunk fest of bore.
The game encourages reactions. You can see in the video that the assassin manages to pour pressure on their opponent by anticipating attacks and performing counters to keep the combo going. The game has dodges. Also in the video both the assassin and the blade master perform backsteps and shifts. They just didn't use them as often because they're fixated on rush downs. If it really just looks like move spamming to you, I would have to say you didn't actually play it long enough to give it a fair shake.

Reputation: 198i'm still going to give this game a chance regardless~ same way i did for Tera Online.
i wasn't able to get very far in the betas because the severe input lag I got from playing halfway across the globe made the combat unbearable.
i decided to put my desire to play on hold and wait for BnS to come to the west~ and now my wish is going to be granted.
now to start the hype~

Reputation: 26I personally like that type of chaining system. I can understand why you call it clunky but for me, I feel that it's smoother(if compared to other point and clicks.) I could guess that it was point and click, honestly speaking, it STILL is. There's not much that makes it different from a generic point and click if you want to put it that way.
Honestly speaking, the part that people enjoy are the graphics and when I say graphics, I don't mean boobs. I mean everything in that game looks really freaking nice, like eye candy for the soul.
Overall, the combat system feeling clunky is just an opinion. I mainly say this because I know it's not just me that feels that it's more smooth when being able to chain skills like that together. Yeah, it's similar to Aion but for B&S, there are more animations or a length of cast that, I feel, chains very nicely to the next skill.
If we're talking about truly action MMOs, there probably won't be anything that could compare until a virtual reality MMO comes out. C9, League of Legends, Dragon Nest can be called action and they can get you involved but they don't push you into a corner where you feel like freaking out and going berserk while being your own complete character. Just my personal opinion.
Basically, in completely flat-line simple explanation for action would be: 3d action WASD+hack and slash > 2d Sidescroller > 3d Point and click
This is all my opinion, of course.
EDIT: To add: I personally feel that B&S would be on a level between hack and slash and 3d point and click.
Certain things make another MMO better than another, that's why there are so many that people enjoy and like.
EX: I couldn't enjoy WoW EVER, tried it a few times, was never a fan. I didn't enjoy TERA, but enjoyed RaiderZ more(though not a lot.) But I know I enjoy B&S over Aion, Cabal, Vindictus. So on so forth, Everyone has their own minds to work with their own thoughts.
The gameplay in that video looks so buggy and there's a lot of stutter in the animations. I would like to try it when it comes out, though.
Looking forward to trying b&s out
The graphics are amazing and the game play looks fun.
Reputation: 882clunky :P the attack animations just look weird, like its constantly frame skipping or something, or i dont know what i find so weird about it, they just move unnatural. sure its like that in every game but it looks too obvious in this one, not fluid.
edit: the hit sounds are silly too, its like someone destroys a coconut with a hammer and the sound of that amplified 10 times.
