Reputation: 35Well I have a Galaxy SII so I have already experienced Android enough. I don't really care for custom roms so that really kills off the main advantage of Android.
I guess that comparing Android to iOS is like comparing manual transmission to automatic transmission. Manual will give you better control of the car but would a normal/casual driver really need or learn the controls?
Reputation: 480The galaxy SII doesn't have a very enjoyable flashing experience because of how the kernal is integrated with some very sensitive parts of the phones internal systems. its the opposite with its successor the III (which i just bought not too long ago and im lovin it).
You can tailor your android experience to how you suit, with the iOS apple just gives you something and you stick with it until the next phone comes around (Which usually doesn't differ much other than a more expensive price than the last). I've just never been a fan of Ios simply because its too restricting. Google doesn't care what you do to the OS, hell they even allow apps that require rooting on their market!
The iphone is a good phone for someone who doesn't have a indepth background of using mobile devices though. its just something you can pick up and get used too right off the back cause its the samething everytime.
When it comes to android, your OS experience will always differ depending on the phone, even if its the same OS because they all tend to use different ROMS. I learned that myself when i got my first android phone, because my girlfriend had the droid back then when it first came out and i really liked it, so i went out and bought a g1, and it was totally different even though we both had android, i kept wondering why was my Ui and experience so different from hers even though we both had the same Operating systems (i think back then it was honeycomb or eclair) thats where rooting/flashing comes in, you can get rid of all that bloatware (like touchwiz) and etc. Honestly if a person who has never used a mobile phone before picked up a android, they probably wouldn't like it cause it can be confusing sometimes. Theres so much to do that you dont know what to do exactly. No phone is really alike they're all different in some way.
When I upgraded from my EVO to a galaxy nexus, i used to get frustrated because, i was so used to having the power button on top of the phone, where as now its on the side, so i would sometimes accidently turn off the phone.. and etc i was also growing frustrated from no longer having a google search button anymore because now instead of just being able to push that and text people with voice i have to manually find the app on my home screen and do it which blows convenience out the window since the 3 buttons can't be programmed to using google voice off the bat.. but i grew used to it.
Another edge of the cliff hanger about androids is not knowing if your phone will be able to get the next operation system updates or not. Because they all tend to get updates at different times, unless you get your phone directly from google themselves, those of which are the very first to receive firmware/software updates straight from devs. (g1,g2,or galaxy nexus at the moment). So while one phone is enjoying jelly bean you're still waiting days, weeks, or even months to be able to use them. Luckily a good bypass for this is the ability to just flash your phone to custom roms of that O.S once again. I had Android on a windows mobile phone before and it ran flawlessly, i believe it was the HD2.
thats one thing i do like about the iphone, it will always be the samething no matter how many generations that come to pass, you get the same experience from the very first, to the very latest. But with androids, you have a lot to play with on your plate, and the only time you really have to upgrade is usually hardware related, because of the versatility of the platform you don't have to force yourself to buy a new phone cause you want the newest O.S you can just flash to it.
Apple is pretty dickish about what they devs put on itunes market as well, compared to google.
(Plus its always awesome to wake up your phone and be able to look at a screen like this)

Reputation: 366The only thing Apple upgrades is the hardware. Besides it being more powerful there is nothing new to it and it is severely limited i.e you are chained to Apple forever which is a load of bs. Not to mention cheaper and better alternatives in every possible way exist out there in the market.
I work at AT&T so im around these phones all day, personally iphone 5 hands down over any android phone. Theres a reason why iphone is the leading phone.
I personally like it because its simple, connects well with my Mac which i use to make music and edit videos. I don't need to root/flash my phone or any of that extra shit i just want to use my phone for music, txt and socialmedia.
There will always be haters.. iPhone is where its at .. Millions of people can't be wrong. I sell like 2 galaxy S3's a month and about 5 iphones per day. Im also learning how to program/develop apps & Apple offers a lot of thing to help you through the process .. Let them milk all the $$ they want thats what every company does when they have something everyone wants
Just my two cents.
Reputation: 16Android has more market share than Iphone so the Iphone is not the "leading phone." Iphone sales spike when the new one comes out. In the end it comes down to personal preference. I have had the Iphone 4s for almost a year now but at this point I would rather have an Android phone for more customization and functionality.
Reputation: 16Last time I checked smart *** remarks weren't in. Everyone is comparing how each phone operates vs the other...The debate is Iphones vs Android "based phones" (I'll include that, you seem a little slow in the head.) But it still stands that Android has a higher share in the market than iPhone.
Im sure i will never get an ipone/ipad/mac. Too overpriced and i could get always something better for a cheaper price. I still use a Siemens A60 and havent really needed a smart phone yet.
Reputation: 733You're comparing apples with hybrid apple-pears, Espada. Everyone knows what android is and what iphone is. Everyone knows that when those two go in an argument it's either OS vs OS, hardware vs hardware or both. Not OS vs OS and hardware.
You can't dodge the bullet with iphone, seeing only the iphone has ios. (and tablets, but we're talking about smartphones here) Therefore it's easier to divide by OS than phones. If they really compare 2 phones with eachother they don't say android vs iphone but they say for example SG3 vs iphone.
You're making the same fault as before: OS vs OS and hardware.
Also, I've gotten the feeling you're quite stubborn/ignorant lately. Try to loosen up a bit wouldn't you? You'll be able to discuss things better if you're able to see things from other point of views or know what they mean. Because that iphone is a phone and android is an OS argument is rather worthless.

This is my phone.
Can I call people with it? Yes.
Can it text? Yes.
That is all I need. Anything else I want would be games, and no iPhone or Android app is addicting enough for me to buy a smartphone.
