    Default Borderlands 2 client download?

So a friend I met on the internet just gave me a code for Borderlands 2 in exchange for my diamonds in Minecraft (lawl) and I'm trying to find a client download so I can use this key to play the game? Does anyone know where I can find a safe client download?

BL 2 is a steamworks title, so there is no steamless version.
    onoooo mai diaaas.
Nah, I'll just talk to him about it. I tried the Steam thing, invalid key. He most likely mistyped it, I'll ask for it again tonight when he gets on.

I have to agree that your buddy probably got some free diamonds, which isn't a big deal because it's not like they are worth anything irl. Who doesn't double check the key they are typing? When I type a key I usually double, even triple check it before I send to a friend or input it. I think it is most likely fake if it doesn't work when you put it in on Steam

Boxed copy or otherwise, the CD-Key is a CD key, and Steam will accept it if it's a valid steam game. Since BL2 is a valid steam game, the reason it's not being accepted is because he went to some CD-Key generator website and gave you some random thing to get free internet items from you
Well, turns out he gave me the wrong code as a troll. He gave me the real key today and I'm downloading the game right now.
    What were you saying?

Dumb, unnecessary post but I'll post some pics soon (after I wake up, tired.) just to prove it to you, since for some odd reason you feel like getting in my business.
